A Search for Trace Amounts of Hydrogen in DB Stars

1991
A search for trace amounts of hydrogen in DB stars revealed no hydrogen in a sample of four objects. Upper limits are considerably lower than the quantities of hydrogen found in the DBA stars, stars with He-dominated photospheres and trace quantities of H.

Asteroseismology of the DB Star GD 358: Improved Evolutionary Models

2003
We have carried out detailed evolutionary calculations of white dwarf models which naturally explain the PG1159-DB-DQ connection. Our evolutionary code (briefly described in Fontaine, Brassard, & Bergeron 2001) was used with the diffusion option turned on.

Demonstration of Hierarchical Star 8-QAM Designed for Coexistence of 10G-EPON and DSP-based PON with 30-dB Loss Budget

2013 18th OptoElectronics and Communications Conference held jointly with 2013 International Conference on Photonics in Switching, 2013
Hierarchical modulation with star 8-QAM to upgrade the downlink of PONs is experimentally demonstrated. We confirm 30-dB loss budget in a condition that allows coexistence of standard 10G-EPON ONUs and 30-Gbps DSP-based ONUs.

A new kind of pulsator in the DB valley of white dwarf stars

EAS Publications Series, 2013
Recent systematic surveys providing massive datasets of white dwarf stars show that there is still a deficit of a factor of 2.5 in the ratio of white dwarfs showing helium absorption lines to those with hydrogen absorption lines in the temperature range 30 000 K T eff < 45 000 K.

Group Behaviour of the Pulsating DB White Dwarf Stars

2003
We report our progress on a systematic attempt to understand the behaviour of the pulsating DB white dwarfs as a group. Our data base, selected results on individual stars and on pulsational group properties are presented.
