Implications of non-volatile memory as primary storage for database management systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Traditional Database Management System (DBMS) software relies on hard disks for storing relational data. Hard disks are cheap, persistent, and offer huge storage capacities. However, data retrieval latency for hard disks is extremely high.

On the Influence of Antioxidants and Recycled MgO–C Source Material on the Mechanical Properties of Carbon‐Bonded Magnesia Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The presented study focuses on the fracture behaviour of carbon‐bonded magnesia MgO–C refractories, where environmentally friendly fructose, collagen and lignin serve as temporary binding agents. The partial substitution of the source material with recycled MgO–C reduces the fracture resistance, which can be counteracted by the additional introduction ...

Scalable Persistent Storage for Erlang [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The many core revolution makes scalability a key property. The RELEASE project aims to improve the scalability of Erlang on emergent commodity architectures with 100,000 cores. Such architectures require scalable and available persistent storage on up to

Impact of Sustainable Binders Based on Lignin and Collagen on the Volume Stability and Mechanical Properties of MgO‐C Refractories with MgO‐C Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.

CLASSIFICATION OF LOGICAL DATA MODELS IMPLEMENTED BY CONTEMPORARY DBMS

open access: yesCifra: Информационные технологии и телекоммуникации
Apart from relational model, many contemporary DBMS implement different data models, including extensions of relational ones. Most of DBMS implement also multiple data models, and are so called “multi-model”.

Experimental Study of the Cloud Architecture Selection for Effective Big Data Processing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Big data dictate their requirements to the hardware and software. Simple migration to the cloud data processing, while solving the problem of increasing computational capabilities, however creates some issues: the need to ensure the safety, the need to ...

Development of Sustainable MgO–C Refractories Using MgO–C Recyclates and a Novel Eco‐Friendly Fructose–Tannin Binder Crosslinked With Citric Acid

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops sustainable MgO–C refractories using recycled materials and eco‐friendly fructose–tannin binders. The enhanced performance of citric acid as a cross‐linker and functional additives on mechanical and thermomechanical properties was examined. Characterization included strength tests, immersion trials, and microstructural and inclusion

Parallel and distributed processing in two SGBDS: A case study

open access: yesTecnura, 2017
Context: One of the strategies for managing large volumes of data is distributed and parallel computing. Among the tools that allow applying these characteristics are some Data Base Management Systems (DBMS), such as Oracle, DB2, and SQL Server. Method:
