Nonlinear Distortion Equalization in Multi‐Span Optical Links Via a Feed‐Forward Photonic Neural Network

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A feed‐forward photonic neural network equalizes linear and nonlinear impairments in multi‐span IMDD optical fiber transmission. The linear processing stage employs an 8‐tap optical Finite Impulse Response filter integrated on a silicon photonics platform, while the end‐of‐line photodetector represents the nonlinear stage.

Amplification of Light‐Ultrasound Interaction in a Pi‐Shifted Fiber Bragg Grating for Enhanced Ultrasonic Sensitivity

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
By precisely engineering the geometry of a fiber‐based optical resonator, the interaction between confined light and external ultrasound waves is significantly amplified without sacrificing light confinement, boosting the ultrasound detection sensitivity beyond 0.5 mPa/√Hz.

A Scalable Quadratic Nonlinear Silicon Photonics Platform With Printable Entangled Photon‐Pair Sources

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A scalable quadratic nonlinear photonic platform is demonstrated by heterogeneously integrating periodically poled lithium niobate with silicon photonics. Relying on the superior CMOS fabrication tolerances, reproducible and deterministic phase‐matching is achieved.

Sulfated Polysaccharides From Gracilaria gracilis (Red Seaweed) Restores Testicular Glucose Metabolism by Improving FSH and Insulin Signaling in Rats With Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
Sulfated polysaccharides from red seaweed improved testicular FSH and insulin signaling, which upregulated GLUT4 level and improved glycolysis and energy metabolism in testes of diabetic rats. ABSTRACT Testicular glucose homeostasis plays important roles in testicular energy metabolism and male fertility, but it is altered in type 2 diabetes (T2D ...

Cluster-based DBMS Management Tool with High-Availability [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, 2005
A management tool which is needed for monitoring and managing cluster-based DBMSs has been little studied. So, we design and implement a cluster-based DBMS management tool with high-availability that monitors the status of nodes in a cluster system as ...

Ticept: Wideband Electrical Properties Tomography by Tissue Composition Assessment With Quantitative 1$$ {}^1 $$H23$$ {}^{23} $$Na39$$ {}^{39} $$K Multinuclear MRI

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To develop a noninvasive method for estimating dielectric properties over a wide frequency range from 50 to 600 MHz. Existing methods are limited in accuracy and provide single‐frequency results. Furthermore, accurate knowledge of dielectric properties becomes more important, since medical device design and safety evaluation ...

A Validation Approach for Ontology-Based Real-time DBMS

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems, 2019
Real-time DBMS (DataBase Management Systems) are an appropriate storage system under real-time constraints. However real-time DBMS do not implement inference or reasoning mechanisms.
