Tissue‐Stimulator Platform for Electrically Stimulating Pancreatic β‐Cells for Long‐Term Functional Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a tissue‐stimulator platform for seamless electrode integration with pancreatic tissue, applying uniform electrical stimulation through optimized design with biohybrid 3D printing. Advantageous effects of electrical stimulation on β‐cell function were observed, including enhanced calcium signaling, islet morphology, and maturation.

Loss comparison of different nine-switch and twelve-switch energy conversion systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Nine-switch converter is a recently proposed reduced-switch equivalence of the twelve-switch back-to-back converter. The usual expectation is thus for the nine-switch converter to face some switching constraints and hence performance tradeoffs.

Suppression of Second-Order Harmonic Current for Droop-Controlled Distributed Energy Resource Converters in DC Microgrids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Droop-controlled distributed energy resource converters in dc microgrids usually show low output impedances. When coupled with ac systems, second-order harmonics typically appear on the dc-bus voltage, causing significant harmonic currents at the ...

Dual‐Programmable Architected Magnetic Soft Materials: Tuning Mechano–Electric Responses by Inverse Design

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Materials that can deform, sense, and autonomously generate power in response to wireless magnetic fields, through both magnetic‐actuated shape transformation and charge generation, are an emerging focus in advanced functional materials research.

A study of high-frequency-fed AC-DC converter with different DC-DC topologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, the operation of high-frequency-fed AC-DC converters with different types of DC-DC topologies is presented. Based on the commonly used DC-DC converter topologies, the possibilities of new converter structure are investigated.

Orthogonal-Core Type Three-Phase dc-ac Converter

open access: yesIEEE Translation Journal on Magnetics in Japan, 1992
In a previous paper, the authors proposed an orthogonal-core type dc-ac converter for use in photovoltaic power systems. The dc-ac converter has such desirable features as a simple construction, high degree of safety, and, ease of maintenance. The operating characteristics of a single-phase converter for residential photovoltaic power systems have also

Residual‐Lithium‐to‐LiF Conversion Enables a LiF–Fluorinated Carbon Interphase for Reconstruction‐Resistant Ni‐Rich Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fluorine‐rich acrylate monomer (PFHEA) was solvent‐free applied to NCM90 and thermally decomposed under Ar to convert residual lithium into LiF and form a pre‐built LiF/fluorinated amorphous carbon (LiF/FC) interphase. The LiF/FC layer suppresses NiO rock‐salt reconstruction and microcrack propagation, lowers interfacial resistance, and improves Li ...

Compherensive design of a 100 kW/400 V high performance AC-DC converter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, a comprehensive design for a 100kW/400V, three-phase pulse-width modulated (PWM) AC-DC converter is presented that serves as the front-end power supply for wide-range varying active load. This power supply includes two series stages; a six-

Energy recovery DC/AC converter for piezoelectric transformer

open access: yes2014 16th European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications, 2014
Piezoelectric transformers have been used successfully in DC/AC or DC/DC converter. However, the use of piezoelectric transformers presents a major challenges for power electronic design: the capacitive nature of such devices makes their use delicate as the instantaneous power may be much greater than the average effective power. Due to this challenge,
