Power factor improvement using nine switch AC-DC-AC converter

2016 IEEE 6th International Conference on Power Systems (ICPS), 2016
This paper presents an application of nine switch converter (NSC) for power factor improvement of 3-phase supply. Power factor improvement is achieved by controlling DC link capacitor voltage. To control capacitor voltage PID controller is used. Modified pulse width modulation with third harmonic injection technique is incorporated in NSC.

Improved Direct Power Control of Grid-Connected DC/AC Converters

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2009
This paper proposes new direct power control (DPC) strategies for three-phase DC/AC converters with improved dynamic response and steady-state performance. As with an electrical machine, source and converter flux, which equal the integration of the respective source and converter voltage, are used to define active and reactive power flow.

Operational Amplifier Based Low Power dc-ac Converter for Domestic Applications

2020 4th International Conference on Trends in Electronics and Informatics (ICOEI)(48184), 2020
In Indian households, voltage source inverters (VSIs) are generally found as a part of uninterruptible power supplies for washing machines, refrigerators or air-conditioning units. Besides power electronic switches, the power circuit of VSI comprises of gate drivers and snubber circuitry. This results in increased component count and complexity. With a

Low Power Losses Configuration for DC/AC Converters

2006
A high efficiency converter topology is proposed in this paper. It has been designed and implemented for a particular application, in which the converter has to work in very critical external condition, such as anti-fire systems. The features to be achieved are the following: dc/ac conversion from a low voltage input source and a minimization of the ...

DC-AC photonic power converters with liquid crystal optical modulators

Optics Letters
In this Letter, we propose a power-switch-free (PSF) DC–AC photonic power converter (PPC) that utilizes liquid-crystal optical modulators (LCOMs) to commutate optical flux, thereby eliminating the need for power switches and avoiding switching-induced electromagnetic interference (EMI).

Transformerless DC/AC Converter for Grid-Connected PV Power Generation System

Arabian Journal for Science and Engineering, 2014
Transformerless photovoltaic (PV) systems have two shortcomings: low voltage not fulfilling load requirement and ground-leakage current flowing through parasitic capacitance between the PV panel and ground. Therefore, a DC/AC converter—a single-phase bipolar sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) H-Bridge power inverter configuration with a DC/DC ...

High power factor AC/DC/AC converter with random PWM

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1999
A three-phase AC/DC/AC converter is presented with a power factor preregulator to improve the power quality in the input side and a pseudorandom noise generator to reduce the emitted acoustic noise and the mechanical vibration for an induction motor drive.
