Verification of frequency converter with small DC-link capacitor
2005 European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications, 2005Traditionally, large DC-link capacitors have been used in voltage source inverters. By using MPPF-type capacitor the line current harmonic content is improved and the unreliable electrolytic capacitor can be omitted. In this paper, the dynamic behavior of an inverter with small DC-link capacitor has been studied by simulations and laboratory tests.

This paper investigates universal start-up procedure for Flying Capacitor Converter (FLC). Main part of this procedure is pre-charging of the dc-link and flying capacitors. This method is usable for voltage pre-charging in rectifier as well as inverter mode of the multilevel FLC converter. This specific feature is based on use of converter topology and

Early diagnosis in DC-link capacitors: electrolytic and films
2018This chapter presents an RUL prediction algorithm based on accelerated life test data and derived physics models for electrolytic capacitors. The main elements are (1) development of the first principles based degradation models; (2) the implementation of a Bayesian-based health state tracking and RUL prediction algorithm based on the Kalman filtering ...

In some applications, to increase the system power density and lower the system cost, the dc-link capacitance of PMSM drives needs to be reduced. However, such practice may cause considerable dc-link voltage fluctuation. In this study, a method is proposed to reduce the dc-link voltage fluctuation.

Comparison of DC-Link Capacitor Types Under Various Grid Conditions
2019 IEEE 13th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG), 2019A DC/AC converter can face negative conditions of power systems such as instability. One of the most crucial necessities of the grid is voltage stability. There are some effects of voltage unbalance for grid-tied DC/AC converters. Grid voltage unbalance causes higher THD values on grid currents than normal grid conditions.
