Heat Flux of a Transferred Arc Driven by a Transverse Magnetic Field

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2009
Theoretical consideration of a magnetically driven arc was performed to elucidate the variation of heat flux with an imposed DC magnetic field. Experiments were conducted to confirm the validity of the theoretical model.

AI in chemical engineering: From promise to practice

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) in chemical engineering has moved from promise to practice: physics‐aware (gray‐box) models are gaining traction, reinforcement learning complements model predictive control (MPC), and generative AI powers documentation, digitization, and safety workflows.

Extending Battery Usage Time of a Heavy‐Duty Mecanum‐Wheeled Autonomous Electric Vehicle Used in Iron–Steel Industry by Considering Wheel Slippage

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
It is a fact that slippage causes tracking errors in both longitudinal and lateral directions which results to have less travel distance in tracking a reference trajectory. Less travel distance means having energy loss of the battery and carrying loads less than planned.

A Doxorubicin‐Loaded Liposomes Baghdadite System for Localized Osteosarcoma Therapy and Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
This study presents a multifunctional Baghdadite ceramic implant integrating doxorubicin‐loaded liposomes via ion‐assisted plasma polymer coating for localized osteosarcoma therapy. The platform enables drug retention, sustained release, tumor cell inhibition, osteoconductivity, and antibacterial activity, offering a mechanically robust strategy for ...

Simulation Study on Arc Temperature of Urban Rail DC Pantograph-Catenary and Arc Ablation of Contact Line

open access: yesMachines
The high temperature generated by the DC pantograph-catenary arc of urban rail systems will aggravate the wear of the pantograph-catenary system. When the ablation intensifies, it will lead to disconnection accidents on the contact line.

Interaction of dust with the DC plasma arc - a computational modelling investigation

open access: yesJournal of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, 2015
The presence of dust and fume suspended in the freeboard region is a common feature of the operation of direct current (DC) plasma smelting furnaces. This occurs primarily as a result of the use of fine feed materials together with the open-arc, open-bath operation of such smelters, and is exacerbated by the high velocities and turbulent mixing of the ...

Description of the skull, braincase, and dentition of Moschognathus whaitsi (Dinocephalia, Tapinocephalia), and its palaeobiological and behavioral implications

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract A subadult Moschognathus whaitsi from the Eastern Cape Province, South Africa, was scanned using synchrotron radiation X‐ray computed tomography (SRXCT). Its subadult state allowed the cranial bones and teeth to be identified and individually reconstructed in 3D.

Trabecular bone ontogeny of the human talus

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Studies of trabecular ontogeny may provide insight into the factors that drive healthy bone development. There is a growing understanding of how the juvenile skeleton responds to these influences; however, gaps in our knowledge remain. This study aims to identify ontogenetic trabecular patterns and regional changes during development within ...
