Electrical Modelling of Switching Arcs in a Low Voltage Relay at Low Currents

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
The arc behaviour of short, low current switching arcs is not well understood and lacks a reliable model. In this work, the behaviour of an arc in the air is studied during contact separation at low DC currents (0.5 A to 20 A) and for small gap lengths ...

Research on the Fire Risk of Photovoltaic DC Fault Arcs Based on Multiphysical Field Simulation

open access: yesEnergies
With the rapid growth of photovoltaic power generation systems, fire incidents within the system have progressively increased. The lack of thorough studies on the temperature properties of direct current (DC) arc faults has resulted in an unclear ...

Review of discharge theory and numerical research on intrinsically safe low voltage DC circuits

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2022
The discharge characteristics of intrinsically safe resistive, inductive and capacitive circuits are analyzed. It is pointed out that inductive and capacitive circuits have larger discharge energy and more complex discharge waveforms.

Modeling of a DC Electric Arc Furnace. Heat Transfer from the Arc.

open access: yesISIJ International, 2000
A mathematical model describing heat and fluid flow in an electric arc has been developed and used to predict heat transfer from the arc to the steel bath in a DC Electric Arc Furnace. The arc model takes the separate contributions to the heat transfer from each involved mechanism into account, i.e.

Comparison and analysis of the fault arc characteristics of flexible DC transmission lines

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
VSC-HVDC grid is one of the important development directions of the smart grid in the future. The arc characteristics of transient fault on the transmission line are the theoretical basis for determining reclosing time and reclosing strategy of DC ...

Simulation and Experimental Research on Arc-Induced Fires in Photovoltaic Systems

open access: yesEnergies
DC fault arcs comprise one of the most serious safety hazards in photovoltaic systems, and their danger far exceeds that of AC arcs. DC arcs lack a natural zero-crossing point, and their burning time can last from several seconds to several minutes ...

Encyclopedia of 2D β′‐In2Se3 Growth Using Chemical Vapor Deposition: The Effects of Synthesis Parameters Onto Material Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

Nanoscale Mapping of Plasmonic Charge Transport in Nano‐Resonators Based on Resistive Switching Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this strategy, a conductive nano‐probe is employed to induce nanoscale phase transitions and map the nanoscale conductivity and trap density of GST films. By utilizing the contrasting properties of phase‐change states, nano‐resonators are fabricated that exhibit plasmonic conduction and dramatically different transport characteristics.
