A simple apparatus for DC bias sputtering
Vacuum, 1970This paper describes a system for the deposition by sputtering of thin tantalum films of fairly high purity, which was easily and cheaply constructed. It would be equally suitable for sputtering films of other refractory metals. The films produced have superconducting transition temperatures in the range 3.4°K to 3.8°K, and the ratio of the resistance ...

Loss Imbalance and Transient DC-Bias Mitigation in Dual-Active-Bridge DC/DC Converters
IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, 2021The triple-phase shift (TPS) modulation has been widely used in dual-active-bridge (DAB) converters to improve system efficiency but still has much greater potentials to be explored. Specifically, pulsewidth modulation (PWM) generation techniques are often not discussed, which, however, are found to be crucial to enhance the converter performances ...

Matrix Inductor With DC-Bias Effect Reduction Capability for GaN-Based DC-DC Boost Converter
IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs, 2020In this brief, a 400-W Gallium Nitride device based DC-DC boost converter with a four phase matrix inductor is proposed. It is well-known that there is a significant influence of the DC bias on inductor core losses and the simplest solution is to employ multiphase structures. However, the size of the converter will also increase as the number of phases

A simple DC bias elimination technique for Dual-Active-Bridge DC/DC converters
2019 10th International Conference on Power Electronics and ECCE Asia (ICPE 2019 - ECCE Asia), 2019A new and simple DC bias elimination technique for a Dual-Active-Bridge DC/DC converter is proposed in this paper. The principle is to make the positive and negative volt-seconds of the magnetizing inductance balance when the phase shift changes. This can be done with minimum disruption on the overall control system by some minor modifications on the ...

A Prediction Method of DC Bias for DC-DC Dual-active-bridge Converter with MOSFETs
2019 14th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA), 2019The dual-active-bridge (DAB) converter attracts more and more attentions due to its ability of bidirectional power transmission and high conversion efficiency. The adoption of high-frequency transformer provides galvanic isolation, but also brings the possibility of de bias.

Detection Method of the DC Bias in Distribution Power Transformers
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2013Nonlinear loads such as ac drives, switch-mode power supplies and grid-connected converters can cause, in addition to the generation of unwanted current harmonics, a dc current component injection into the grid. This dc current component can lead to magnetic saturation of the distribution power transformers, leading to higher current distortion and ...

A new auto-bias method for digital control dc-dc converter
2011 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2011Main content of this paper is a new auto-bias method for digital control dc-dc converter. In the proposed method, not only the P-I-D control as the feedback one but also the new auto-bias method as the feedforward one is used. The new auto-bias method consists of two superior functions.

DC bias suppression in diffraction patterns
Optics Communications, 1972Abstract A Smith polarization interferometer is used for the suppression of the influence of the dc bias light level in optical diffraction patterns. Its application results in an improved detectability of low-frequency diffraction orders.

dc Bias-Sputtered Aluminum Films
Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology, 1973Low resistivity aluminum films have been deposited by dc bias sputtering without excessive presputtering. Minimum resistivity occurs for a bias (VB) of approximately −40 V and, in contrast to the case for sputtered molybdenum, the resistivity increases for higher negative biases.

A Novel Control Method for Eliminating DC Bias in Dual-Active-Bridge DC-DC Converters
2018 IEEE International Power Electronics and Application Conference and Exposition (PEAC), 2018This paper proposes a novel transient current control method for dual-active-bridge (DAB) dc-dc converters. When sudden load transients or reference change, the dc bias of inductor current will occur under the traditional control method, which may cause induce magnetic-flux saturation and excessive current spike in the loop.
