Analog Building Blocks of dc-dc Converters: Examining Fundamental Concepts

IEEE Solid-State Circuits Magazine, 2020
Dc-dc conversion plays the central part in the growing field of power management, which converts input voltages from various different energy sources into circuit-level voltages. At the system level, input voltages may range from a few millivolts (in the case of energy harvesting) to a few volts (in the case of low-voltage batteries).

Interdigital Multiple Coupled Microstrip DC Blocks

12th European Microwave Conference, 1982, 1982
The analysis, design procedure and experimental results for open circuited, interdigital multiple coupled microstrip line structures for applications as wide band DC blocks are presented. As in the case with other microstrip structures, the initial design procedure is formulated by assuming TEM modes of propagation.

DC-Block Modeling

2014
DC-block (which is an MIM capacitor) is another component that is used in the circuits. Here in the following, a DC-block is modeled which may have different combinations of dielectric layers (a single AlN layer, a single SiN layer, or a combination of both, refer to Chap.

Block Clustering Based on Difference of Convex Functions (DC) Programming and DC Algorithms

Neural Computation, 2013
We investigate difference of convex functions (DC) programming and the DC algorithm (DCA) to solve the block clustering problem in the continuous framework, which traditionally requires solving a hard combinatorial optimization problem. DC reformulation techniques and exact penalty in DC programming are developed to build an appropriate equivalent DC ...

Trellis Constrained Dc-free Block Codes

Proceedings. 1991 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2005
Summary One of the simplest means of inducing a spectral null at DC is the use of a polarity bit code (PBC), as devised by Bowers and Carter. (See [I] for details.) In polarity bit encoding k = n - 1 bits enter the encoder and a single “1” is appended to the string; then either the resulting n-tuple OT its complement is transmitted.

Building Block Converter Module for Universal (AC-DC, DC-AC, DC-DC) Fully Modular Power Conversion Architecture

2007 IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2007
This paper presents the configuration and control methods for a building block module suitable for application in a fully modular, AC-DC, DC-AC and DC-DC power conversion architecture, where the modules can be connected in any combination of series and parallel connections and support bidirectional power flow.

Design Procedure for Ferrite Microstrip DC Blocks

7th Joint MMM-Intermag Conference. Abstracts (Cat. No.98CH36275), 1998
We have investigated the theoretical behavior of the microstrip dc blocks on magnetized ferrite substrates. A full-wave analysis is applied to determine the effective dielectric constants and the characteristic impedances of the fundamental eigenmodes associated with the coupled lines and their frequency dependence.

Advanced DC Bias Suppression Strategy based on Finite DC Blocking Devices

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2017
The ground return current of a high voltage direct current system will intrude the transformers adjacent to the grounding electrode in the case of monopole operation, leading to the half-cycle saturation of transformers. To mitigate the adverse effect, placing dc blocking devices (BDs) in transformer neutrals is popularly advocated.

A Phase Lead Compensation block for DC-DC converters in PMU

2012 IEEE 11th International Conference on Solid-State and Integrated Circuit Technology, 2012
A novel Phase Lead Compensation (PLC) for DC-DC converters in Power Management Unit (PMU) is presented in this paper. Capacitor multiplier technique and the input differential pair are implemented. With this PLC, a compact-size buck converter with a high negative Power Supply Ratio Rejection (PSRR-) is achieved.

Asymmetric Microstrip DC Blocks with Rippled Response

MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2005
A design procedure is described for dc blocks using asymmetric coupled microstrip which exhibit a rippled frequency response, while at the same time acting as impedance transformers. Lumped capacitances are added in order to compensate for the difference in propagation constants of two quasi TEM modes.
