DC breakdown strength of polypropylene films: area dependence and statistical behavior

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2007
The DC breakdown strengths of 4-15 mum thick capacitor grade polypropylene (PP) films were determined. The measurements were performed with an automatic measurement system using five electrodes with areas between 0.045 and 9.3 cm2. Some samples were studied with larger electrodes. Samples were not aged but were measured as received.

Effects of Voltage Stabilziers on the AC and DC Breakdown Strengths of EPDM

2021 International Conference on Electrical Materials and Power Equipment (ICEMPE), 2021
Voltage stabilizers are widely used to improve the electrical tree resistance and breakdown strength of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulating materials. Ethylene-Propylene-Diene Monomer rubber (EPDM), as a frequently-used material for the enhanced insulation of cable accessories or medium voltage power cable insulation, has also an urgent need ...

Enhanced DC breakdown strength of epoxy nanocomposites at elevated temperature and its mechanisms

Journal of Applied Physics, 2021
Breakdown of epoxy composites is easy to be triggered as the temperature is elevated. In order to improve the DC breakdown strength of epoxy composites at elevated temperature and explore the DC breakdown mechanism, functional nano-titania (TiO2) particles were incorporated into the epoxy matrix with different filler loadings, molecular chain dynamic ...
