DC Conductor Rail with Distributed DC Link Capacitors

2021 IEEE Fourth International Conference on DC Microgrids (ICDCM), 2021
DC conductor rails are an attractive choice for many conveyor systems as commonly used in car factories. Replacing the DC link capacitances of the moving conveyors and of the DC supply by capacitors distributed along the conductor rail in a DC grid system can reduce mass and size of moving conveyors.

DC link capacitor selection for DC-DC converters

2020 12th Electrical Engineering Faculty Conference (BulEF), 2020
This paper presents a strategy for DC-link capacitor selection for a low voltage DC-DC buck converter with load current in the range of 0.2kA up to 1kA. The power source is a rechargeable battery and despite its relatively low internal resistance, the choice of input capacitance is critical to the proper operation of the converter.

Online Estimation Method of DC-Link Capacitors for Reduced DC-Link Capacitance IPMSM Drives

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2021
In order to extend the lifetime and save the system cost, the film capacitor is applied to the dc link of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drives. Many active damping control methods have been carried out to improve the drive system stability, which needs the accurate value of the dc-link film capacitor.

DC-link voltage stabilization for reduced dc-link capacitor inverter

2009 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2009
In conventional motor drive systems using pulsewidth modulation (PWM) inverters, large electrolytic capacitors are used for stabilization of the dc-link voltage. Since the electrolytic capacitors are bulky and reduce reliability of the system due to short lifetime, there have been many efforts to eliminate or reduce the electrolytic capacitors in the ...

DC-Link Capacitor Lifetime under Various Operating Conditions

2019 IEEE 13th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG), 2019
A grid-tied DC/AC converter transfers the energy to the power system under different operating conditions such as DC-Link voltage level, power factor, and instability in the grid voltage. There are some effects of the operating conditions to the DC-Link capacitor lifetime.

A DC-link capacitor minimization method through direct capacitor current control

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2003
If we make the converter side DC link current the same as the inverter side DC link current in a PWM converter-inverter system, no current will flow through the DC link capacitor and as a result, no DC link voltage variation occurs. This leads to the possibility of significantly reducing the size of DC link capacitors which are expensive, bulky and ...

DC-link shunt compensator for three-phase system with small DC-link capacitor

2015 9th International Conference on Power Electronics and ECCE Asia (ICPE-ECCE Asia), 2015
This paper proposes a control method of DC-link shunt compensator (DSC) located to DC-node in three-phase diode rectifier system. The circuit can substitute for bulky components such as DC reactor filter and DC-link capacitor from conventional three-phase system.

Comparison of DC-Link Capacitor Types Under Various Grid Conditions

2019 IEEE 13th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG), 2019
A DC/AC converter can face negative conditions of power systems such as instability. One of the most crucial necessities of the grid is voltage stability. There are some effects of voltage unbalance for grid-tied DC/AC converters. Grid voltage unbalance causes higher THD values on grid currents than normal grid conditions.

DC-Link Voltage Fluctuation Reduction of Vector Controlled PMSM Drives with Reduced DC-Link Capacitor

2018 IEEE 4th Information Technology and Mechatronics Engineering Conference (ITOEC), 2018
In some applications, to increase the system power density and lower the system cost, the dc-link capacitance of PMSM drives needs to be reduced. However, such practice may cause considerable dc-link voltage fluctuation. In this study, a method is proposed to reduce the dc-link voltage fluctuation.
