DC microgrids for photovoltaic powered systems

2018
This chapter first overviews the dc microgrid architecture, where the primary energy sources are PV panels. Then, the focus is on power electronic converter technologies for PV dc microgrid systems, where an industrial case is also given. Regarding the control dc microgrids for PV collection plants, it is discussed in this chapter as well.

A Double Uneven Power Converter-Based DC–DC Converter for High-Power DC Grid Systems

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2015
This paper presents a novel double uneven power converter-based dc-dc converter and its design and control methods. The main objectives are to reduce the power losses in the power semiconductor devices and to reduce the output filter inductance in a high-power (megawatt-level) dc-dc converter.

On Uninterruptible DC Power Supply Systems

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1983
Abstract The major disadvantages of uninterruptible d.c. power supply systems in present use are either an unequal loading of individual sources or dependence on a separate control block or a dominant unit. A new redundant-type configuration featuring a feedback-controlled current sharing is proposed.

Emergency DC Power Support in Parallel AC/DC Power System

2013
Emergency DC Power Support (EDCPS for short) is an economical and practical emergency control measure to enhance the transient stability in parallel AC/DC power system and deserves further research. In this paper some research issues related to EDCPS in parallel AC/DC system are presented, including the mechanism of how EDCPS enhances transient ...

A high-power-density DC/DC converter for high-power distributed power systems

IEEE 34th Annual Conference on Power Electronics Specialist, 2003. PESC '03., 2004
This paper presents a zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) three-level DC/DC resonant converter for high-power distributed power systems. The paper first addresses the operation of the converter at a fixed frequency, which is achieved by applying phase-shift control between the primary and the secondary sides of the transformer.

DC–DC Converter-Aware Power Management for Low-Power Embedded Systems

IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems, 2007
Most digital systems are equipped with dc-dc converters to supply various levels of voltages from batteries to logic devices. DC-DC converters maintain legal voltage ranges regardless of the load current variation as well as battery voltage drop. Although the efficiency of dc-dc converters is changed by the output voltage level and the load current ...

Arcing on DC Power Systems

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1992
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Unexpected and undesirable arcing on DC power systems can produce hazardous situations aboard space flights. The potential for fire and shock might exist in a situation where there is a broken conductor, a loose power connection, or a break in the insulation of the power cable.

Study on DC power modulation in AC/DC power system

APSCOM-97. International Conference on Advances in Power System Control, Operation and Management, 1997
The influence of DC power modulation on transient stability for an interconnected AC/DC power system is studied and some regularity conclusions are made in this paper. The engineering feasibility and existing problems of improving the transient stability by fast DC power modulation is also studied when the AC system is subjected to a large disturbance.

A Hybrid Smart AC/DC Power System

IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, 2010
Recently, smart grids are attracting attention. Already, a smart grid based on an AC grid is proposed. However, no study on research is presented or published on a smart grid based on a dc grid. This paper presents an ac/dc hybrid smart power system. The proposed system has advantages of both dc and ac grids.
