Temperature‐Modulated Threshold Response in a Volatile Memristor: Toward a Biomimetic Polymodal Nociceptive System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an artificial polymodal nociceptor whose firing threshold is actively modulated by temperature. A volatile TiN/TiOx/ZnO/TiOx/ITO memristor shows interfacial ion–driven resistive switching and membrane‐potential‐like dynamics, enabling temperature‐dependent nociceptive behavior.

Protection and post-fault recovery of large HVDC networks using partitioning and fast-acting DC breakers at strategic locations

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
DC fault protection arrangements for a large multi-terminal HVDC (MTDC) network are proposed where fast-acting DC circuit breakers are only used at strategic locations with the large DC network to be operated interconnected but partitioned into islanded ...

Multi-function DC protection scheme for an LVDC smart distribution network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Low voltage direct current (LVDC) distribution systems have the potential to support future realisation of smart grids functionality. They do however present significant protection challenges that existing schemes based on DC fuses and conventional ...

Enhanced Li‐Ion Battery Performance with Hybrid MXene/GnR Electrodes: Heterojunctions and Engineered Architectures Supported by DFT Mechanistic Studies for Improved Rate Performance, Stability & Capacity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) remain central to energy storage but suffer from slow ion transport and degradation. Here, we present a binder‐free Ti3C2Tx MXene/GnR hybrid electrode with a porous 3D architecture formed via freeze casting. The structure enhances conductivity, ion transport, and stability, delivering 401 mAh/g, ∼97% efficiency, and 92 ...

Firefly Algorithm Optimized Robust Protection Scheme for DC Microgrid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Various topologies of the Direct Current (DC) microgrid have been proposed in the literature by considering practical requirements. One of the important criteria in topology selection is the availability of a well-functioning protection scheme.

Regionally Localized Electrolyte Engineering via UV Crosslinking for Stable Ether–Carbonate Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a regionally localized electrolyte (RLE) that spatially separates ether‐ and carbonate‐based functions to stabilize both Li metal and high‐voltage cathodes. An immobilized ether‐rich layer directs Li+ transport, activates LiNO3 locally, and forms a uniform LiF‐rich SEI, enabling lower overpotential, uniform deposition, and long ...

TaqMan qPCR Detection and Quantification of Phytophthora cinnamomi in Soil and Plant Tissues for Walnut Disease Management

open access: yesAgriculture
Phytophthora cinnamomi is a devastating soil-borne plant pathogen. The primary source of P. cinnamomi infection is the soil, where the pathogen can persist for long periods.
