Mechanical stiffness orchestrates distinct regulation of MRTFs and YAP/TAZ transcriptional cofactors in hepatocytes

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
MRTFs and YAP/TAZ proteins, or mechanosensitive transcriptional cofactors (MRTcoF), regulate common genes associated with cellular contractility and immune cell infiltration. Their differential regulation in response to stiffness is linked to changes in hepatocyte's aspect ratio. MRTFB does not undergo nuclear translocation under these conditions. This

Generative Artificial Intelligence for Computer Vision in Endodontics: A Review of Current State and Future Potential

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Computer vision methods based on artificial intelligence (AI) have found numerous applications in endodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. While most current applications employ discriminative deep learning models for detection and classification tasks, the field is now witnessing the rise of generative AI (GenAI), a class of AI

Dive surveys and eDNA detect contrasting macroalgal community composition in Nova Scotia, Canada

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, EarlyView.
Abstract Morphological identification of macroalgae can be time‐consuming and species may be difficult to observe, collect, or identify, preventing detailed study on the distribution and ecology of many species. The use of eDNA in species surveillance and biodiversity assessments has gained considerable traction in studying macroalgae, as it provides ...

Inflammatory and Immunological Basis of Periodontal Diseases

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
The periodontal lesion emerges as an evolving immunological battlefield, where host–microbiome interactions, dysregulated immune responses, fragile resolution mechanisms, and inflammophilic dysbiosis converge to shift the balance from homeostasis to unrestrained tissue destruction.
