Metabolic Considerations in Direct Procurement and Perfusion Protocols with DCD Heart Transplantation. [PDF]

open access: yes
Heart transplantation with donation after circulatory death (DCD) provides excellent patient outcomes and increases donor heart availability. However, unlike conventional grafts obtained through donation after brain death, DCD cardiac grafts are not only

Impact of Prior Biologic Mechanism of Action on Anti‐TNF Effectiveness in Inflammatory Bowel Disease: An ENEIDA Registry Study

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 64, Issue 9, Page 1234-1247, November 2026.
In this nationwide ENEIDA registry study, anti‐TNF therapy after prior exposure to a different biologic mechanism of action showed reduced treatment durability in inflammatory bowel disease, with a particularly marked impact in ulcerative colitis, where short‐ and long‐term clinical effectiveness was also lower. ABSTRACT Background The expanding use of

Early predictors of cognitive trajectories from birth to adolescence in children born extremely preterm

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, Volume 68, Issue 11, Page 1551-1560, November 2026.
At 2 years, 10 years, and 15 years, the presence of early white matter injury (WMI) moderated associations between lower social risk and cognitive functioning in the social disadvantage index group x WMI interactions for combined abilities. Findings suggest that the benefits of low social risk were present in those without early WMI, but are ...

Exoskeleton‐assisted physiotherapy in school and outpatient contexts for minimally ambulant children with cerebral palsy

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, Volume 68, Issue 11, Page 1580-1592, November 2026.
Abstract Aim To assess the clinical feasibility of lower‐limb pediatric exoskeleton‐assisted (Trexo Plus) physiotherapy for minimally ambulatory children at an outpatient center and a primary school. Secondary aims were to assess associated functional and goal‐based outcomes before and after Trexo‐based physiotherapy.

Variability of motor imagery in children with cerebral palsy examined using the Hand Laterality Test

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, Volume 68, Issue 11, Page 1570-1579, November 2026.
Variability of motor imagery performance in children with cerebral palsy. This original article is commented by Souto on pages 1494–1495 of this issue. Abstract Aim To examine motor imagery performance in children with cerebral palsy (CP) compared to typically developing children and develop a composite motor imagery score to differentiate between the ...

Modified MXene Aerogel With Broadband Microwave Absorption Inspired by Melanophila Acuminata Beetle

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 55, 5 October 2026.
This work introduces a novel biomimetic strategy inspired by the infrared‐sensing sensilla of the Melanophila acuminata beetle. We have designed a multi‐level aerogel, featuring a three‐dimensional carbon framework decorated with synergistic CeO2 nanoparticles and Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets.

Outcomes of adult patients with Li‐Fraumeni syndrome and myeloid neoplasms

open access: yesCancer, Volume 132, Issue 19, 1 October 2026.
Abstract Background Li‐Fraumeni syndrome (LFS) is an inherited cancer predisposition syndrome. Hematologic malignancies are not considered LFS defining tumors, however, both acute lymphoblastic leukemia and therapy‐related myeloid neoplasms (MNs) in LFS are described. Treatment approaches and outcomes of MN in LFS need further evaluation.

The Transformation of Trace Metal Distributions Across the Mackenzie Shelf and Through the Northwest Passage

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Understanding the distributions of trace elements, like iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), barium (Ba), and vanadium (V) in the Arctic Ocean is motivated in part because they can modulate key biogeochemical rate processes as micronutrients and/or toxins for primary producers ...

When Machine Perfusion Falls Short: Identifying Risks of Liver Graft Failure After Normothermic Machine Perfusion

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 50, Issue 10, Page 1407-1417, October 2026.
Analysis of 4928 normothermic machine perfusion liver transplants reveals that recipient factors, particularly MELD ≥ 35, surgical complexity, ICU status, and functional impairment are stronger predictors of graft failure than donor characteristics, emphasizing the continued importance of clinical judgment in patient selection.
