Endoscopic Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR)
2017Congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction (NLDO) usually resolves spontaneously during the first year of life. Persistent cases often requires probing, intubation, or balloon dacryocystoplasty. Refractory cases have been successfully managed by endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) in adults and children. Some children have a bony obstruction that must

Objective confirmation of nasolacrimal patency following dacryocystorhinostomy is a desirable postoperative goal for both the surgeon and the patient. The authors describe a simple method to demonstrate dacryocystorhinostomy patency and present a study comparing the effectiveness of this novel test with Jones fluorescein testing in 32 cases seen ...

ObjectiveEvaluation of results of endoscopic DCR in children.MethodA total of 39 children (aged 5‐14 years) had undergone first time endoscopic DCR. A total of 37 had undergone removal of the medial wall of the lacrimal sac. Two children with lacrimal sac fistula on the face had undergone stenting.

Complete cicatricial closure of the ostium is one of the common causes of a failed DCR [1–3]. The precise nasal mucosal wound healing is unclear; human models of wound healing has shown four distinct phases: first phase (7–12 days) of wound enveloping by blood crusts, second phase (2–4 weeks) of granulation tissue formation, third phase (4–8 weeks) of ...

[Endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR)].
Revue medicale de la Suisse romande, 2002The main symptoms of chronic obstruction of lacrymal pathways are epiphora and chronic dacryocystitis occurring mostly in elderly women. The aim of the surgery is to perform intranasal drainage of the lacrymal sac. The authors performed 30 dacryocystorhinostomies (DCR) in 26 patients with an intranasal endoscopic approach.
