High‐Entropy Magnetism of Murunskite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 40, October 1, 2025.
The study of murunskite (K2FeCu3S4) reveals that its magnetic and orbital order emerges in a simple I4/mmm crystal structure with complete disorder in the transition metal positions. Mixed‐valence Fe ions randomly occupy 1/4 of the tetrahedral sites, with the remaining 3/4 being filled by non‐magnetic Cu+ ions.

Pivotal roles of Kupffer cells in the progression and regression of DDC-induced chronic cholangiopathy

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Kupffer cells (KCs) are key players in maintaining tissue homeostasis and are involved in various liver diseases. However, the roles of KCs in the pathogenesis of cholangiopathy are largely unknown.

Protective effect of green perilla-derived chalcone derivative DDC on amyloid β protein-induced neurotoxicity in primary cortical neurons.

open access: yesBiological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2019
Amyloid β protein (Aβ) causes neurotoxicity and cognitive impairment in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Oxidative stress is closely related to the pathogenesis of AD.

Leukocyte count and new‐onset diabetes mellitus in people with HIV: A longitudinal study

open access: yesHIV Medicine, Volume 26, Issue 10, Page 1585-1599, October 2025.
Abstract Objectives The risk of diabetes mellitus (DM) is increased in people with HIV. Chronic inflammation contributes to DM risk. High leukocytes are associated with DM in the general population, but in people with HIV, evidence of a leukocyte–DM association is limited. Methods We included participants of the Swiss HIV Cohort Study with new‐onset DM

CMOS‐Compatible Short‐Wave Infrared Linear Arrays of Ge‐on‐Si Avalanche Photodiodes

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 6, Issue 9, September 2025.
The fabrication and characterization of a new type of surface‐illuminated Si‐based avalanche photodiode array operating in the short‐wave infrared region using germanium as the absorber and silicon as the multiplier is reported. The demonstration of an avalanche gain of 24 at a temperature of 378 K allows the devices to operate in outdoor environments.

Ferroptosis in Cancer and Inflammatory Diseases: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 9, September 2025.
Ferroptosis, a form of cell death driven by iron and lipid peroxidation, serves as a bridge between cancer and inflammatory diseases. Microenvironmental factors such as oxidative stress collectively regulate this process. In cancer, ferroptosis exhibits dual roles: while it eliminates drug‐resistant cells, it may also promote tumor metastasis.

Thermal extraction and characterization of pectin from semi‐solid by‐products of the olive oil industry

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 105, Issue 11, Page 5863-5873, 30 August 2025.
Abstract BACKGROUND The valorization of agro‐industrial by‐products is crucial for promoting sustainability and circular economy. Olive mill semi‐solid by‐products (OMSbP), also known as alperujo, contain valuable bioactive compounds, including pectin, which can be extracted and used in food applications.

Enhanced Activities of OCT4 and SOX2 Promote Epigenetic Reprogramming by Shortening G1 Phase

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 32, August 28, 2025.
Fusing the VP16 domain to OCT4 and SOX2 (OvSvK) enhances iPSC generation by activating downstream targets, including those regulating the cell cycle. This accelerates reprogramming by shortening the G1 phase and reducing H3K27me3 levels. Modulating Ccnd1, Cdkn2a, and Ccne1 improves efficiency, linking cell cycle to epigenetic remodeling.
