The Great Lakes Winter Grab: Limnological data from a multi‐institutional winter sampling campaign on the Laurentian Great Lakes

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 10, Issue 1, Page 37-61, February 2025.
Abstract Interest in winter limnology is growing rapidly, but progress is hindered by a shortage of standardized multivariate datasets on winter conditions. Addressing the winter data gap will enhance our understanding of winter ecosystem function and of lake response to environmental change.

Dynamic Field Theory of Executive Function: Identifying Early Neurocognitive Markers

open access: yesMonographs of the Society for Research in Child Development, Volume 89, Issue 3, Page 7-109, December 2024.
Abstract In this Monograph, we explored neurocognitive predictors of executive function (EF) development in a cohort of children followed longitudinally from 30 to 54 months of age. We tested predictions of a dynamic field model that explains development in a benchmark measure of EF development, the dimensional change card sort (DCCS) task.

Tungsten Strongly Inhibits Sintering of Porous Iron During High‐Temperature Redox Cycling

open access: yesSmall, Volume 20, Issue 37, September 12, 2024.
The excellent microstructural and phase stability of Fe‐25W foams and powder beds for 100 high‐temperature redox cycles is demonstrated. Abstract Freeze‐cast Fe‐25 W (at%) lamellar foams show excellent resistance to degradation at 800 °C during steam‐hydrogen redox cycling between the metallic and oxide states, with fast reaction kinetics maintained up

Releasing angiotensin I‐converting enzyme inhibitory (ACE‐I) peptides by Yamadazyma spp. in non‐fat milk

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Science &Technology, Volume 59, Issue 8, Page 5598-5605, August 2024.
This study demonstrates the production of bioactive peptides that inhibit ACE‐I enzyme by yeast fermentation. The protease activity of the isolated Yamadazyma spp. found remarkable at 25 °C. The highest ACE‐I activity was determined by the HPLC method as 92.5% with isolate combination, and the activity could increase with further purification.

Giving a voice to our silent teachers: Whole body donation from the donor perspective at one donation program in the United States

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, Volume 17, Issue 4, Page 893-908, June 2024.
Abstract Human body donors play a crucial role in anatomical education, research, and clinical skills training, and those interested in anatomical donation may bequeath their bodies to body donation programs (BDPs). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the perspective of body donors on the donation process in order to make recommendations for ...

Mouse models for inherited monoamine neurotransmitter disorders

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 47, Issue 3, Page 533-550, May 2024.
Abstract Several mouse models have been developed to study human defects of primary and secondary inherited monoamine neurotransmitter disorders (iMND). As the field continues to expand, current defects in corresponding mouse models include enzymes and a molecular co‐chaperone involved in monoamine synthesis and metabolism (PAH, TH, PITX3, AADC, DBH ...

Review on Fatigue of Additive Manufactured Metallic Alloys: Microstructure, Performance, Enhancement, and Assessment Methods

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 36, Issue 17, April 25, 2024.
Additive manufactured metals have excellent mechanical properties, but their fatigue resistance is an exception. This article reviews the processes attributes, hierarchical microstructure, fatigue performance, and evaluation methods. The fatigue failure mechanisms of printed metals were summarized, and the competition between trans‐scale ...
