Multiple genetic variants at the SLC30A8 locus affect local super‐enhancer activity and influence pancreatic β‐cell survival and function

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 38, Issue 8, 30 April 2024.
GWAS‐identified SLC30A8 locus contains an islet super‐enhancer cluster. This super‐enhancer cluster regulates the expression of not only the SLC30A8 gene but also multiple other genes (UTP23, RAD21, MED30, and EXT1) which are involved in fundamental cellular machineries.

Unwinding NFTs in the shadow of IP law

open access: yesAmerican Business Law Journal, Volume 61, Issue 1, Page 31-55, Spring 2024.
Abstract Amid the surge of intellectual property (IP) disputes surrounding non‐fungible tokens (NFTs), some scholars have advocated for the application of personal property or sales law to regulate NFT minting and transactions, contending that IP laws unduly hinder the development of the NFT market. This Article counters these proposals and argues that

Mid‐Holocene rainfall seasonality and ENSO dynamics over the south‐western Pacific

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 10, Issue 1, Page 176-194, February 2024.
We provide a layer counted and U/Th‐dated record of mid‐Holocene rainfall and ENSO changes in the south‐western Pacific using a stalagmite from Niue Island. We combine oxygen and carbon isotope ratios with trace elements and greyscale data to infer changes in local infiltration at seasonal to multi‐decadal timescales.

Pivotal roles of Kupffer cells in the progression and regression of DDC-induced chronic cholangiopathy

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Kupffer cells (KCs) are key players in maintaining tissue homeostasis and are involved in various liver diseases. However, the roles of KCs in the pathogenesis of cholangiopathy are largely unknown.

Protective effect of green perilla-derived chalcone derivative DDC on amyloid β protein-induced neurotoxicity in primary cortical neurons.

open access: yesBiological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2019
Amyloid β protein (Aβ) causes neurotoxicity and cognitive impairment in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Oxidative stress is closely related to the pathogenesis of AD.

Phosphotyrosine prodrugs: design, synthesis and anti-STAT3 activity of ISS-610 aryloxy triester phosphoramidate prodrugs.

open access: yesMedChemComm, 2019
Unmasked phohate groups of phosphotyrosine-containing molecules carry two negative charges at physiological pH, which compromise their (passive) cellular uptake. Also, these phosphate groups are often cleaved off by phosphatases.

USP38, FREM3, SDC1, DDC, and LOC727982 Gene Polymorphisms and Differential Susceptibility to Severe Malaria in Tanzania

open access: yesJournal of Infectious Diseases, 2015
Populations exposed to Plasmodium falciparum infection develop genetic mechanisms of protection against severe malarial disease. Despite decades of genetic epidemiological research, the sickle cell trait (HbAS) sickle cell polymorphism, ABO blood group ...

Detection of 610-MHz radio emission from hot magnetic stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We have carried out a study of radio emission from a small sample of magnetic O- and Btype stars using the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope, with the goal of investigating their magnetospheres at low frequencies.

MicroRNA-610 suppresses the proliferation of human glioblastoma cells by repressing CCND2 and AKT3

open access: yesMolecular Medicine Reports, 2016
Previous studies have shown that microRNA (miR)-610 is crucial in a variety of biological processes in various types of human cancer cells. However, the role of this microRNA in glioblastoma (GBM) is presently unclear.

MicroRNA-610 suppresses osteosarcoma oncogenicity via targeting TWIST1 expression

open access: yesOncoTarget, 2017
Osteosarcoma is the most frequent primary bone tumor affects adolescents and young adults. Recently, microRNAs (miRNAs) are short, non-coding and endogenous RNAs that played as important roles in the initiation and progression of tumors.
