Solving DDEs in Matlab

Applied Numerical Mathematics, 2001
The background of a Matlab procedure, dde234, to solve delay differential equations (DDEs) with constant delays is described. The main features of this new procedure are discontinuity tracking and event location. Runge-Kutta triples are extended in order to solve with them DDEs.

On a Class of Birth-and-Death DDE's

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 2004
The author considers Markov chains of birth-and-death type whose transition probabilities are described with the help of the Kolmogorov equations. These equations are of differential-difference type (DDE's). The author solves these birth-and-death differential-difference equations after a suitable parametrization by using Chebyshev polynomials.

DDE Poisoning in an Adult Bald Eagle

Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1997
A 12-year-old female bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) was found in May 1993 on Santa Catalina Island, California (USA), in a debilitated condition, exhibiting ataxia and tremors; it died within hours. On necropsy, the bird was emaciated but had no evidence of disease or physical injury.

Determinants of serum DDT and DDE concentrations

Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 1970
1) Measurements of serum DDT concentration are capable of relfecting changes in oral DDT intake accurately and promptly. 2) Serum DDE level is only slightly increased by a 300-600 fold increase in DDT intake over a period of 5 months. It is therefore an essentially worthless measure of recent change in oral DDT intake.

DDT and DDE content of human tissues

Forensic Science, 1972
Abstract In 1968–1969 determinations of DDT and DDE were made in the subcutaneous and perirenal fatty tissues, liver and brain from autopsies of persons who had had no professional contact with chlorinated hydrocarbons. The contents of DDT and DDE were measured in 96 samples by gas chromatography. Retentions of unchanged DDT in the fatty subcutaneous

Kinetics of distribution and elimination of DDE in rats

Xenobiotica, 1991
1. Rats were given single i.v. doses of 14C-DDE, and total drug (14C) and unchanged DDE (g.l.c.) were measured for up to 14 days in blood, tissues, and excreta. The 14C recoveries amounted to 90.0 +/- 10.8 (SD) % dose. 2. DDE underwent redistribution from blood to liver, muscle, skin and, ultimately, adipose tissue.

Toxicities of DDE on Wheat and Bioremediation of DDE by FungusPleurotus pulmonarius

Human and Ecological Risk Assessment: An International Journal, 2006
ABSTRACT An in vitro study was performed to determine the acute phytotoxicities and genotoxicity of DDE either spiked to soil or added to hydrophonic cultures on wheat Triticum aestivum. A 24-well plate was first used to determine toxicity on individual grains using conventional seed germination/seedling growth toxicity tests whereas a single cell ...

Uptake of Gaseous DDE in Spruce Needles

Environmental Science & Technology, 1994
The accumulation and desorption of gaseous DDE in spruce needles was investigated in two chamber experiments using Picea omorika and in a third using Picea abies. The P. omorika needles were divided into two fractions for analysis: the soluble cuticular lipids and the remaining needle.

From ODE to DDE

Frontiers of Mathematics in China, 2009
The delay differential equation \[ x'(t)=f(t,x(t),x(t-\tau)) \tag{1} \] is considered, where \(f:\mathbb{R}\times \mathbb{R}^n\to \mathbb{R}^n\) and \(\tau>0\). For this equation there are given both local and global existence theorems for periodical solutions.
