Student Perspectives on Integrating an Oral Health Helpline Service Into Dental and Dental Hygiene Education

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Dental Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The University of British Columbia's Faculty of Dentistry developed a helpline service to provide free oral health information, referrals to oral healthcare clinics and aid navigating public dental benefits. Over two academic years, 43 fourth‐year dental hygiene students and 29 dental students received education on being a virtual

The pasta phase within density dependent hadronic models

open access: yes, 2008
In the present paper we investigate the onset of the pasta phase with different parametrisations of the density dependent hadronic model and compare the results with one of the usual parametrisation of the non-linear Walecka model.

Risk Factor Assessment and a Ten-Year Experience of DDH Screening in a Well-Child Population

open access: yesBioMed Research International, 2019
Aim Risk based screening for developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) with ultrasound is common. However, risk factors vary from one country to the other since data are insufficient to give clear recommendations. We aimed to evaluate the risk factors for

The ALS‐associated E425K mutation uncouples DNAJC7 from the Hsp70 chaperone cycle

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
DNAJC7 is a J‐domain protein that plays a key role in protein quality control by regulating Hsp70 activity and preventing protein aggregation. We find that the ALS‐associated E425K mutation in DNAJC7 disrupts productive interaction and activation of Hsp70, thereby blocking the transfer and refolding of client proteins such as TDP‐43.

An assessment of the impact of developmental dysplasia of the hip on patients’ wellbeing: calculation of disability weight and country-specific utility weights

open access: yesBone & Joint Open, 2023
Aims: Within healthcare, several measures are used to quantify and compare the severity of health conditions. Two common measures are disability weight (DW), a context-independent value representing severity of a health state, and utility weight (UW), a ...

Nuclear Anapole Moments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Nuclear anapole moments are parity-odd, time-reversal-even E1 moments of the electromagnetic current operator. Although the existence of this moment was recognized theoretically soon after the discovery of parity nonconservation (PNC), its experimental ...

Drivers of strigolactone diversity: P450s in strigolactone biosynthesis

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the discovery and functional identification of cytochrome P450 in strigolactone biosynthesis, classifies and summarizes the members discovered so far, clarifies their biological significance, discusses the technology of strigolactone synthesis research, and finally describes some problems in strigolactone research and potential ...

The parity-violating asymmetry in the 3He(n,p)3H reaction

open access: yes, 2010
The longitudinal asymmetry induced by parity-violating (PV) components in the nucleon-nucleon potential is studied in the charge-exchange reaction 3He(n,p)3H at vanishing incident neutron energies.
