Anthropogenic impacts on mosquito populations in North America over the past century. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The recent emergence and spread of vector-borne viruses including Zika, chikungunya and dengue has raised concerns that climate change may cause mosquito vectors of these diseases to expand into more temperate regions.

Ferroelectric Quantum Dots for Retinomorphic In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work has provided a protocol for fabricating retinomorphic phototransistors by integrating ferroelectric ligands with quantum dots. The resulting device combines ferroelectricity, optical responsiveness, and low‐power operation to enable adaptive signal amplification and high recognition accuracy under low‐light conditions, while supporting ...

Detonation transition process in a channel equipped with the repeated obstacles (Effect of obstacle height and spacing on the DDT process)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2016
Experiments were performed to investigate the deflagration-to-detonation transition (DDT) process in the channel equipped with repeated obstacles. A premixed gas of hydrogen-oxygen was ignited and the DDT process was visualized by using a high-speed ...

D-dopachrome tautomerase contributes to lung epithelial repair via atypical chemokine receptor 3-dependent Akt signaling

open access: yesEBioMedicine, 2021
Background: Emphysematous COPD is characterized by aberrant alveolar repair. Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) contributes to alveolar repair, but for its structural and functional homolog D-dopachrome tautomerase (DDT) this is unknown.

Prenatal DDT exposure and child adiposity at age 12: The CHAMACOS study

open access: yesEnvironmental Research, 2017
Objective: Using data from the Center for the Health Assessment of Mothers and Children of Salinas (CHAMACOS) birth cohort study, we assessed the association of in utero exposure to dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) and dichlorodiphenylethylene (DDE)

Unity Quantum Yield of High‐Entropy Quantum Dots Composited With Photonic Crystals for Information Encryption

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study first extends the high‐entropy concept to I‐III‐VI quantum dots (QDs) and synthesizes CZCrGSe/ZnSe/ZnS core/shell/shell QDs with a record photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 100%. Their ZnSe/ZnS double shell efficiently passivates defects and boosts structural stability.

Implications of bio-efficacy and persistence of insecticides when indoor residual spraying and longlasting insecticide nets are combined for malaria prevention. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Bio-efficacy and residual activity of insecticides used for indoor residual spraying (IRS) and long-lasting insecticide nets (LLINs) were assessed against laboratory-reared and wild populations of the malaria vector, Anopheles arabiensis in south eastern

Robot‐Assisted Doppler Optical Coherence Tomography for Intraoperative Evaluation of Microvascular Anastomoses

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work presents a robot‐assisted Doppler optical coherence tomography system for autonomous, wide‐field intraoperative assessment of microvascular anastomoses. Machine‐vision–guided probe positioning and adaptive scan planning enable three‐dimensional structural and hemodynamic imaging over extended vessel segments.

Legacy contaminants in the eastern Beaufort Sea beluga whales (Delphinapterus leucas): are temporal trends reflecting regulations?

open access: yesArctic Science, 2018
Once deposited onto Arctic ecosystems, persistent organic pollutants (POPs) biomagnify in foodwebs such that relatively high levels have been detected in predators like beluga whales (Delphinapterus leucas).
