Evaluating land–sea linkages using land cover change and coral reef monitoring data: A case study from northeastern Puerto Rico

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Land cover change that leads to increased nutrient and sediment runoff is an important driver of change in coral reef ecosystems. In this study, we combined satellite remote sensing and field monitoring to assess concomitant changes in watershed land cover and coral cover in northeastern Puerto Rico in 2000–2015.

Stochastic Nonparametric Envelopment of Data: Combining Virtues of SFA and DEA in a Unified Framework

open access: yes
The literature of productive efficiency analysis is divided into two main branches: the parametric Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) and nonparametric Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA).

Identifying efficiency drivers in the greek sausage industry: a double bootstrap DEA approach [PDF]

open access: yes
The paper investigates technical efficiency determinants for sausage industry in Greece over the period of 1994–2007. A double bootstrap data envelopment analysis is applied in order to obtain robust estimates of efficiency scores and regression variable

Assessing the Effects of Biodiesel Production on Sustainability: A Bayesian Two‐Stage Data Envelopment Analysis Approach

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sustainable development transforms production systems, requiring integrated environmental, social, and economic strategies. Energy systems are key agro‐industrial supply chains in developing countries. Brazil's soybean supply chain impacts Gross Domestic Product, mainly through exports.

Assessing Eco‐Efficiency in Municipal Solid Waste Management Integrating Heterogeneity: A Latent Class Stochastic Frontier Analysis

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The measurement of eco‐efficiency in the municipal solid waste (MSW) sector has garnered significant attention due to the substantial environmental impacts of unsustainable MSW management and the high operational costs associated with public service provision.

Water‐Energy Nexus: Benchmarking the Energy Efficiency of Drinking Water Treatment Plants Accounting for Heterogeneity

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The assessment of energy efficiency in water facilities is receiving increasing attention as a key strategy in the transition toward an energy‐neutral urban water cycle. This study evaluates the energy efficiency of 146 drinking water treatment plants (DWTPs) in Chile by applying a latent class stochastic frontier analysis (LCSFA) to account ...
