Is the PHY layer dead? [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Communications Magazine, 2011
This article originates from a panel with the above title, held at IEEE VTC Spring 2009, in which the authors took part. The enthusiastic response it received prompted us to discuss for a wider audience whether research at the physical layer (PHY) is still relevant to the field of wireless communications.

Muck drawing by inclined two-dimensional flow [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
The work aims at studying and developing an efficient option of layer-by-layer muck drawing from the “dead area” of the footwall for the account of forming an inclined limiting contact of the muck ore with the unmined ore massif.

Assessing the living and dead proportions of cold-water coral colonies: implications for deep-water Marine Protected Area monitoring in a changing ocean [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2017
Coral growth patterns result from an interplay of coral biology and environmental conditions. In this study colony size and proportion of live and dead skeletons in the cold-water coral (CWC) Lophelia pertusa (Linnaeus, 1758) were measured using video ...

INFLUENCE OF DISTURBED LAYERS ON THE DIELECTRIC PROPERTIES OF FERROELECTRIC THIN FILM CAPACITORS

open access: yesРоссийский технологический журнал, 2016
Capacitor ferroelectric structures are the basis of many modern microelectronic devices, including non-volatile memory, piezoelectric micro-actuators, sensors etc. Miniaturization of such devices requires a reduction in the ferroelectric layer thickness,

Comparative study of commercial crystalline solar cells

open access: yesResults in Optics, 2023
In this research article, a comparative study of different types, i.e., conventional (Multicrystalline & Monocrystalline) and Passivated Emitter Rear Cell (PERC) of commercially available crystalline silicon solar cells have been carried out in terms

Surface Dead Layer for Quasiparticles Near a Mott Transition [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2009
Electron quasiparticles are progressively weakened by correlations upon approaching a continuos Mott metal insulator transition in a bulk solid. We show that corresponding to the bulk weakening, a dead layer forms below the surface of the solid, where quasiparticles are exponentially suppressed.

Metal-to-Insulator Transition in Ultrathin Manganite Heterostructures

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Thickness-driven phase transitions have been widely observed in many correlated transition metal oxides materials. One of the important topics is the thickness-driven metal to insulator transition in half-metal La2/3Sr1/3MnO3 (LSMO) thin films, which has

Monte Carlo simulation of HPGe gamma-spectrometry systems

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
In order to obtain the relationship between energy and channel, the suitable radionuclides are chosen to calibrate. The result shows a goodness of fitting.
