Determination of gold-layer and dead-layer thicknesses for a Si(Li) detector

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1973
Abstract Proton-induced C(K α ) and O(K α ) X-rays have been used to determine the efficiencies for detection of these X-rays by a Si(Li) detector. The efficiencies permitted evaluation of the effective gold-layer and dead-layer thicknesses for the detector.

A Dead Senator Tells No Lies: Seniority and the Distribution of Federal Benefits

American Journal of Political Science, 1990
Empirical studies of distributive politics fail to offer any systematic evidence of a relationship between committee seniority in Congress and the geographic distribution of federal benefits. These findings are at odds with many descriptive accounts of the seniority norm for which such a relationship is a presupposition.

"Death lies dead: The Allusive Texture of Swinburne's "A Forsaken Garden"

Victorian Poetry, 2003
Swinburne's provocative dissent was not usually indirect- His controversial mode had, it is usually assumed, little place for the oblique. With the overt impatience with Christianity inscribed in Poems and Ballads first series (1866), there is no surprise that "A Forsaken Garden" from Poems and Ballads second series (1878) has been taken at face value ...

The Impact of Dead Li on Mass Transport, Voltage Profiles, Capacity, and Failure of Lithium Metal Anodes

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2017
Currently, Li metal anode development is restricted by low Coulombic efficiency, poor cycle life, and safety concerns. Each of these challenges stem from the extreme reactivity of Li metal and the resulting undesirable interactions at the electrode/electrolyte interface.

A simple and accurate dead time measuring system for a Si(Li) X-ray spectrometer system

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1977
Abstract A circuit is described for the accurate measurement of the dead time of a Si(Li) X-ray spectrometer system. Results are presented for counting rates up to 10 4 cps.

Graphite from Dead Li‐Ion Batteries: A “Powerful” Additive for Fabrication of High‐Performance Li‐Ion Capacitors

Advanced Materials Technologies
AbstractLithium‐ion capacitors (LICs) are considered a promising next‐generation energy storage system with high energy density and power capability. The conductive additive is a passive and indispensable material in deciding the electrochemical performance of an energy storage device during high current charging and discharging processes.

Pulse height defect due to electron interaction in the dead layers of Ge(li) γ-Ray detectors

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1967
Study shows the pulse-height degradation of gamma ray spectra in germanium/lithium detectors to be due to electron interaction in the dead layers that exist in all semiconductor detectors. A pulse shape discrimination technique identifies and eliminates these defective pulses.

Dead time corrections for X-ray intensity measurements with a Si(Li) detector

Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments, 1972
Dead time corrections in X-ray peak intensity measurements carried out with a Si(Li) detector are large. The use of the 'live time' method of timing takes account of most of the loss of counts resulting simply from the length of the pulses, but for peak measurements a further correction is required to allow for pulse pile up in the main amplifier. Adsorption/Solid‐phase Extraction of Li + Ions from The Dead Sea Using Lithium‐ion Sieves (LIS): Effect of Preparation Method, Metal Oxide Type, and Magnetization of LIS

ChemistrySelect
Abstract This study investigated lithium‐ion sieves (LIS) and how factors like preparation method, metal oxide type, and magnetization affect lithium uptake, selectivity, and solid‐phase extraction performance. It was found that the highest lithium uptake occurred at pH 12 due to the accelerated Li‐H ion exchange ...
