Fixed order scheduling with deadlines

open access: yesOperations Research Letters
This paper studies a scheduling problem in a parallel machine setting, where each machine must adhere to a predetermined fixed order for processing the jobs. Given $n$ jobs, each with processing times and deadlines, we aim to minimize the number of machines while ensuring deadlines are met and the fixed order is maintained.

Deadline Miss Rate Scheduling in DAG Considering Probabilistic Execution Time

open access: yesIEEE Access
Autonomous driving systems have been extensively researched for safety. To ensure safety, a strict deadline is enforced before sensor data influences vehicle control. A common approach to this issue is Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) scheduling.

Delay Constrained Scheduling over Fading Channels: Optimal Policies for Monomial Energy-Cost Functions

open access: yes, 2008
A point-to-point discrete-time scheduling problem of transmitting $B$ information bits within $T$ hard delay deadline slots is considered assuming that the underlying energy-bit cost function is a convex monomial.

Deadline Constrained Cloud Computing Resources Scheduling through an Ant Colony System Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Cloud computing resources scheduling is essential for executing workflows in the cloud platform because it relates to both execution time and execution cost.

Ban Glyphosate—Does It Affect the Swedish Farmers' Willingness to Grow Cover Crops?

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The cultivation of cover crops is one of the new Eco‐scheme practices introduced in Sweden. This study examines how the design of policy attributes of these schemes influences farmers' willingness to grow cover crops on arable land, with particular focus on the potential impact of a glyphosate ban.

Adaptive Resource Allocation and Consolidation for Scientific Workflow Scheduling in Multi-Cloud Environments

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The emerging multi-cloud environments (MCEs) empower the execution of large-scale scientific workflows (SWs) with sufficient resource provisioning. However, due to complex task dependencies in SWs and various cost-performance of cloud resources, the SW ...

Lightweight EDF scheduling with deadline inheritance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
EDFI is a lightweight real-time scheduling protocol that combines EDF with deadline inheritance over shared resources. We will show that EDFI is flexible during a tasks admission control, efficient with scheduling and dispatching, and straightforward in ...

The Biofuels Blueprint: Understanding the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We provide a comprehensive review of the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), synthesizing nearly two decades of program evolution, market outcomes, and economic analysis. The RFS mandates minimum volumes of renewable fuel blending through a nested structure based on life‐cycle greenhouse gas reductions, enforced via tradeable Renewable ...
