In Situ Lithium Nitridosilicate Interlayer via Reactive Anolyte Design for All‐Solid‐State Silicon Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Interfacial reactions in all‐solid‐state batteries are conventionally suppressed; here, they are designed. Vacancy‐rich β‐Li3N, acting as an anolyte, reacts controllably with silicon during composite anode fabrication, building a purpose‐made lithium nitridosilicate interlayer on every particle surface.

Atomic-scale phase separation induced clustering of solute atoms

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Dealloying usually relies on chemical dissolution of an alloy component. By contrast, the authors demonstrate an atomic-scale phase separation process that differs completely from the chemical dealloying mechanism and thus represents a significant ...

In Situ Study of Nanoporosity Evolution during Dealloying AgAu and CoPd by Grazing-Incidence Small-Angle X-ray Scattering

open access: yesThe journal of physical chemistry. C, Nanomaterials and interfaces, 2022
Electrochemical dealloying has become a standard technique to produce nanoporous network structures of various noble metals, exploiting the selective dissolution of one component from an alloy.

Observing Electrochemical Dealloying by Single-Nanoparticle Collision

open access: yes, 2016
We report direct observation of electrochemical and thermal dealloying processes of individual metal alloy nanoparticles (NPs). Electrochemical dealloying of single Ag–Hg alloy NPs was achieved in a basic solution (e.g., pH 13) by oxidizing Hg under ...

Hole‐Activated Lattice Oxygen Enables Pt‐Free Propane Dehydrogenation by Eliminating the Hydrogen Recombination Bottleneck

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Trace Mg doping into gallia–alumina generates hole‐type oxygen species that accelerate hydrogen recombination, eliminating the need for Pt promotion. The fully oxide‐based catalyst resists sintering under repeated regeneration, outperforming benchmark PtSn and CrOx catalysts with exceptional stability over 30 dehydrogenation–regeneration cycles ...

Potassium‐Ion Battery Anode Materials Operating through the Alloying–Dealloying Reaction Mechanism

open access: yes, 2018
Anode materials that operate via the alloying–dealloying reaction mechanism are well known in established and maturing battery systems such as lithium‐ion and sodium‐ion batteries.

Design of High‐Energy Anode for All‐Solid‐State Lithium Batteries–A Model with Borohydride‐Based Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study proposes a function‐sharing anode design to enable nonmetallic lithium insertion while maintaining intimate interfacial contact with the solid‐state electrolyte. A combination of lithium‐compatible and conformable borohydrides, highly conformable indium metal, less‐graphitized acetylene black, and a layer of highly graphitized massive ...

Preparation of nanoporous tungsten by liquid metal dealloying [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Liquid metal dealloying is the novel technique for generating porous structure from less noble metals. In this study, nanoporous tungsten was prepared by dealloying in a metallic melt from a tungsten-nickel precursor with different atomic compositions ...

Electronegativity‐Guided Site Differentiation in High‐Entropy Alloy for pH‐Universal Hydrogen Evolution Reactions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Electronegativity‐guided site differentiation is realized in a CoNiCuMoW high‐entropy alloy, where Co/Ni sites optimize hydrogen binding strength, Mo/W sites promote water dissociation, and Cu‐associated sites contribute to balanced hydrogen adsorption.
