Subgingival debridement: end point, methods and how often?

open access: yesPeriodontology, 2017
Subgingival debridement is the part of nonsurgical therapy which aims to remove the biofilm without intentionally removing the cementum or subgingival calculus.

Accelerating Sono‐Piezoelectric Charge Transport for Antibacterial Therapy and Bone Regeneration by Metal‐Deficient TiO2 Spin‐Polarization Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The deficient TiO2 (DTO) and Barium titanate (BTO) heterojunction treats osteomyelitis through SDT. The spin‐polarization effect induced by the unpaired spin electrons in Ti atoms can expedite the transfer of ultrasonic piezoelectric charges in BTO, enhancing surface sonocatalytic efficiency.

Platelet-Rich Plasma Injection With Percutaneous Needling for Recalcitrant Lateral Epicondylitis: Comparison of Tenotomy and Fenestration Techniques. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Recalcitrant lateral epicondylitis (LE) is a common debilitating condition, with numerous treatment options of varying success. An injection of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been shown to improve LE, although it is unclear whether the method

A Biomechanical Study on the Use of Curved Drilling Technique for Treatment of Osteonecrosis of Femoral Head [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Osteonecrosis occurs due to the loss of blood supply to the bone, leading to spontaneous death of the trabecular bone. Delayed treatment of the involved patients results in collapse of the femoral head, which leads to a need for total hip arthroplasty surgery.

An Off‐the‐Shelf Artificial Blood Clot Hydrogel Neutralizing Multiple Proinflammatory Mediators for Pro‐Regenerative Periodontitis Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CCS‐RSF@PRP hydrogel is engineered to structurally and functionally mimic the blood clot by integrating PPR, CCS, and RSF nanofibers through in situ activation of PRP. In a rat periodontitis model, CCS‐RSF@PRP hydrogel effectively promotes periodontal tissue repair, attributing to neutralizing the multiple proinflammatory mediators, thus rebuilding a ...

Predicting Diabetes Disease Evolution Using Financial Records and Recurrent Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Managing patients with chronic diseases is a major and growing healthcare challenge in several countries. A chronic condition, such as diabetes, is an illness that lasts a long time and does not go away, and often leads to the patient's health gradually getting worse.

UTX Responds to Nanotopography to Suppress Macrophage Inflammatory Response by Remodeling H3K27me3 Modification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Compared with those on the pTi surface, macrophages on the TNTs surface present reduced myosin II contractility, which facilitates the nuclear translocation of the UTX. This reduction decreases the enrichment of the repressive H3K27me3 histone modification at the Abca1 gene locus, which promotes the transcription and protein expression of ABCA1 ...
