Ablation process of debris-covered glaciers.

Air temperature distribution and energy balance modelling of a debris-covered glacier
Near-surface air temperature is an important determinant of the surface energy balance of glaciers that is often represented by constant linear temperature gradients in models.

Multi-sensor remote sensing to map glacier debris cover in the Greater Caucasus, Georgia
Global warming is causing glaciers in the Caucasus Mountains and around the world to lose mass at an accelerated pace. As a result of this rapid retreat, significant parts of the glacierized surface area can be covered with debris deposits, often making ...

Rapid sequestration of rock avalanche deposits within glaciers
Topographic development in mountainous landscapes is a complex interplay between tectonics, climate and denudation. Glaciers erode valleys to generate headwall relief, and hillslope processes control the height and retreat of the peaks.

Glacial debris cover and melt water production for glaciers in the Altay, Russia [PDF]
Glaciers are important water storages on a seasonal and long-term time scale. Where high mountains are surrounded by arid lowlands, glacier runoff is an important source of water during the growing season.

Understanding the hydrology of glacierized catchments is an important step in assessing the vulnerability of water resources to a changing climate. While there have been increased efforts recently to understand the dynamics of Asia's cryosphere, glacier ...

Supraglacial Ponds Regulate Runoff From Himalayan Debris‐Covered Glaciers [PDF]
AbstractMeltwater and runoff from glaciers in High Mountain Asia is a vital freshwater resource for one‐fifth of the Earth's population. Between 13% and 36% of the region's glacierized areas exhibit surface debris cover and associated supraglacial ponds whose hydrological buffering roles remain unconstrained.
