The Influence of the Pretreatment of Tool Steel on the Running‐In Phase of Diamond‐Like Carbon Coatings

The influence of tool steel pretreatment on the running‐in behavior of TiNb‐diamond‐like carbon (DLC) coatings is investigated. Ion etching promotes carbide protrusion and increases coating roughness, while post‐deposition polishing reduces surface asperities.

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

Detection‐Dog‐Guided Camera Placement Increases Efficiency of Surveys for Long‐Tailed Weasels (Neogale frenata) 利用探测犬引导布设相机可提升长尾鼬调查效率

By comparing widespread surveys with randomly placed cameras to a protocol pairing detection dogs with cameras, we found that the detection‐dog‐guided camera survey had approximately 33 times greater detections with fewer camera nights and reduced survey costs.
