The X‐Ray Crystal Structure of BorF, the Flavin Reductase Subunit of a Two‐Component Flavin‐Dependent Tryptophan Halogenase

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT BorF is a short‐chain flavin reductase from a desert soil bacterium that uses NADH to reduce FAD to FADH2, which is used by the tryptophan‐6‐halogenase BorH to chlorinate tryptophan in the biosynthetic pathway of borregomycin A. The X‐ray crystal structure of BorF bound to FAD was solved to 2.37 Å by molecular replacement.

Alcoholic extracts of Russian sage (Salvia yangii) contain bioactive terpenoids with inhibitory activity against grapevine downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Alcoholic extracts from flowers, leaves, and shoots of Russian sage decreased downy mildew severity on grapevine leaf disks. Fractionation followed by metabolomic analysis revealed putative terpenoids as the main components of the active fractions. Specifically, 7‐methylrosmanol, 12‐O‐methylcarnosic acid, carnosic acid, and carnosol were identified as ...

Initiation of Olefin Metathesis: Reaction of Deca-2,8-diene with Catalysts formed from Me_4Sn-WC1_6 and Me_3Al_2Cl_3-(Ph_3P)_2(NO)_2Cl_2Mo [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
The initial product of the metathesis of deca-2,8-diene with metathesis catalysts formed from either Me_4Sn–WCl_6 or Me_3Al_2Cl_3–(Ph_3P)_2(NO)_2Cl_2Mo is propene; labelling of the terminal groups of the diene and the alkylating agents gives a labelling ...

Single Cu Atom Sites on Co3O4 Activate Interfacial Oxygen for Enhanced Reactivity and Selective Gas Sensing at Low Temperature

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Atomically dispersed Cu sites on Co3O4 nanoparticles establish well‐defined Cu–O–Co interfacial linkages that promote lattice oxygen activation at markedly reduced temperatures. This structural and electronic modulation yields over twenty‐fold higher low‐temperature formaldehyde sensing responses than CuO nanoparticle analogues, enabling selective and ...

Impact of calcium aluminate cement and calcium sulfate on gel C-A-S-H formation during the Portland cement hydration

open access: yesMateriales de Construccion
This study examines how calcium aluminate cement (CAC) and calcium sulfate influence the hydration and gel structure of Portland cement (PC). A binary PC/CAC (85/15) mix was compared with ternary systems containing 3% and 5% calcium sulfate under two ...

Agricultural Fungicide Mancozeb in Leaf Litter Enhances Survival and Growth of Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae)

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mancozeb is one of the most widely used agricultural fungicides, exhibiting strong efficacy against a broad spectrum of phytopathogenic fungi. However, its widespread application comes at the cost of environmental contamination. Here, we show the effects of Inga vera leaf litter contamination with Mancozeb on life‐history traits of Aedes ...

Modeling Soil-Facing Interface Interaction With Continuum Element Methodology

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2022
Soil-facing mechanical interactions play an important role in the behavior of earth-retaining walls. Generally, numerical analysis of earth-retaining structures requires the use of interface elements between dissimilar component materials to model soil ...

Egg development, hatching rhythm and moult patterns in Paralomos spinosissima (Decapoda: Anomura: Paguroidea: Lithodidae) from South Georgia waters (Southern Ocean) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Larval release, hatching rhythms and moult patterns were examined in a captive population of the subantarctic lithodid, Paralomis spinosissima from the South Georgia and Shag Rocks region.

Deca-Arylsamarocene: An Unusually Inert Sm(II) Sandwich Complex [PDF]

open access: yesOrganometallics, 2018
Samarocene sandwich complexes with superbulky penta-arylcyclopentadienyl ligands have been prepared and were structurally characterized: [(4-EtC6H4)(5)C-5](2)Sm (1) and [(4-iPrC(6)H(4))(5)C-5](2)Sm (2). Analogous to the previously reported synthesis of [(4-nBuC(6)H(4))(5)C-5](2)Sm, reaction of (DMAT)(2)center dot Sm(THF)(2) (DMAT = 2-Me2N-alpha-Me3Si ...

Evidence About Discipline Committees and Professional Misconduct of Auditors*,‡

open access: yesAccounting Perspectives, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Self‐regulating professions establish professional discipline processes to determine whether members' behavior falls short of expectations outlined in their respective codes of conduct and to determine appropriate sanctions when necessary. From an auditing perspective, audit quality is of primary interest to audit researchers, yet few prior ...
