Observation of the Decay

open access: yesPhysics Letters, 2015
The Λb0→Λϕ decay is observed using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1 recorded by the LHCb experiment. The decay proceeds at leading order via a b→ss‾s loop transition and is therefore sensitive to the possible presence of particles beyond the Standard Model.

RNA Sequencing Resolves Cryptic Pathogenic Variants in Mitochondrial Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Mitochondrial diseases are the most common inherited metabolic disorders, characterized by pronounced clinical and genetic heterogeneity that complicates molecular diagnosis. Although DNA‐based sequencing approaches have become standard in genetic testing, up to half of patients remain without a definitive diagnosis.

Wake Evolution of Wing-Body Configuration from Roll-Up to Vortex Decay

open access: yes, 2012
The development of aircraft’s wake vortex from the roll-up until vortex decay is studied. An aircraft model and the surrounding flow field obtained from high-fidelity Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes simulation are swept through a ground-fixed ...

Longitudinal Assessment of Biomarkers in ALS: Discriminative Biomarkers for Disease Progression and Survival

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To assess the association and discriminative performance of serum biomarkers with clinical disease progression and survival in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Methods This retrospective study, conducted at Houston Methodist Hospital, Houston, TX, used longitudinal serum samples collected between January 2018 and ...

Cognitive and Neuroimaging Divergence Between Juvenile and Adult FUS Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive motor neuron degeneration. Fused in sarcoma (FUS)‐associated juvenile ALS (jALS) represents a distinct and aggressive subgroup with rapid deterioration and poor prognosis.

The decomposition of wood mass under conditions of climax spruce stands and related mycoflora in the Krkonoše Mountains

open access: yesJournal of Forest Science, 2002
The mycoflora was investigated under the conditions of climax spruce stands in the Krkonoše Mountains in relation to wood decomposition. The areas under observation have been affected more or less by air pollution since the eighties.

Fi-Decay to the

open access: yes, 2007
Up to now only a small fraction of the Gamow-Teller (GT) sum rule is known to be exhausted in the spectrum of 8 Li. 8 He fi-decay to the 6 Li+n+n channel is studied as a process which may indicate the concentration of GT strength at high ...

Aircraft Wake Vortex Decay in Ground Proximity : Physical Mechanisms and Artificial Enhancement

open access: yes, 2012
Aircraft wake vortex evolution in ground proximity is investigated numerically with large eddy simulations (LES). The simulations are performed with different modifications of the ground surface in order to trigger rapid vortex decay or to simulate the ...
