Adaptive Foam 3D Printing of Ultralight and Multifunctional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Adaptive foam 3D printing, enabled by expandable microspheres, imparts cellular structures to thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers, manufactured through a variety of processes including fused filament fabrication, direct ink writing, digital light processing, and inkjet printing.

Entropy‐Driven Design of Low‐Melting‐Point Alloys via Compositionally Complex Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Conventional low‐melting‐point alloys (LMPAs) are limited by a narrow compositional space and inherent property trade‐offs. This review presents an entropy‐driven design strategy that overcomes these limitations, ushering in a new class of low‐melting‐point compositionally complex alloys (LMCCAs).

Simulation‐Based Analysis of Insert Pull‐Out in Nickel‐Polyurethane Hybrid Foams Using CT‐Derived Geometries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
CT‐based finite element simulations combined with in situ X‐ray computed tomography are used to analyze insert pull‐out in nickel‐coated polymer foams. Despite variations in material parameters, deformation consistently concentrates within a narrow annular region around the insert.

ALP-assisted strong first-order electroweak phase transition and baryogenesis

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Axion-like particles (ALPs) can be naturally lighter than the electroweak scale. We consider an ALP that couples to the Standard Model Higgs to achieve the strong first-order electroweak phase transition.

Feasibility and Limitations of the Advanced Replica Process for Bioactive Glasses

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Periodic 3D‐printed Kelvin‐cell templates enable a controlled advanced replica process for fabricating highly porous glass lattices. Across P45K9, 45S5, and 13–93, material‐dependent differences in coating, burnout, and shrinkage lead to distinct strut morphologies, while comparable final porosities of 83%–88% are retained.

Asymptotic behaviour of the minimum bound method for choosing the regularization parameter [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We consider a parameter choice method (called the minimum bound method) for regularization of linear ill-posed problems that was developed by Raus and Gfrerer for the case with continuous, deterministic data.

Investigating the Low‐Temperature Phase Stability of the Binary Ta–W System

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Atomistic simulations show that the binary Ta–W system forms ordered intermetallic phases, B2‐TaW and D03‐TaW3, as 0 K ground states. Configurational entropy, however, lowers the free energy of the disordered bcc solid solution, which becomes the stable phase above about 400 K.

Measurement of the hyperon weak radiative decay Ξ0 → γΣ0 at BESIII

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The hyperon weak radiative decay Ξ0 → γΣ0 is measured using a sample of Ξ0 from J / ψ → Ξ 0 Ξ ¯ 0 $$ J/\psi \to {\Xi}^0{\overline{\Xi}}^0 $$ decays. The absolute branching fraction of Ξ0 → γΣ0 is determined to be (3.66 ± 0.21stat ± 0.10syst) × 10 −3 ...

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Beckett and Decay

open access: yes
The word 'decay' is often used by critics in general reference to Beckett's thematic emphasis and philosophical outlook. However, this book explores the idea of decay as the fundamental core of Beckett's work, dominating it thematically, linguistically ...
