Micromechanical response of dual-hardening martensitic bearing steel before and after rolling contact fatigue

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Material decay in bearing steels under rolling contact fatigue (RCF) leads to fatigue initiation and failure. This study examines the local structure-property relationship in decayed material through in-situ compression testing of micropillars prepared ...

Energy dependent forward B $\rightarrow$ $J/\psi$ measurements in p+p collisions at PHENIX

open access: yes, 2017
The heavy flavor studies at RHIC help improve the knowledge of the bottom/charm quark production and can test Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). Compared to the LHC/Tevatron, the RHIC heavy flavor production originates from different partonic sub-processes ...

Genetics of decayed sexual traits in a parasitoid wasp with endosymbiont-induced asexuality

open access: yesHeredity, 2014
Trait decay may occur when selective pressures shift, owing to changes in environment or life style, rendering formerly adaptive traits non-functional or even maladaptive.

Flexibility and Dynamicity Enhances and Controls Supramolecular Self‐Assembly of Zinc(II) Metallogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zinc(II) coordination complexes with tunable aryloxy‐imine ligands exhibit controllable supramolecular self‐assembly into hierarchical fibrous structures. Coordination‐driven stacking, not π–π interactions, enables gelation, dynamic assembly/disassembly, and enhanced nanomechanical properties.

Dental Status and Associated Factors in a Dentate Adult Population in Bulgaria: A Cross-Sectional Survey

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dentistry, 2012
This study aimed to determine variations in the dental status of a dentate adult population in terms of “decayed,” “missing,” and “filled” teeth in relation to several sociodemographic and behavioral factors. Quota sampling was used to draw 2531 subjects

Tuning the Dielectric Properties of Individual Clay Nanosheets by Interlayer Composition: Toward Nano‐Electret Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

EPITHET "DECAYED" IN ANDREI PLATONOV'S ARTISTIC WORLD (ANALYSIS OF HIS NOVEL "CHEVENGUR" AND WAR-TIME SHORT STORIES)

open access: yesПроблемы исторической поэтики, 2008
The article analyses the semantics and functions of the epithet "decayed" in the artistic world, created by Andrei Platonov, based on his novel "Chevengur" (1927—1929) and stories about the Great Patriotic War (1941—1945).

Substrate Stress Relaxation Regulates Cell‐Mediated Assembly of Extracellular Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Silicone‐based viscoelastic substrates with tunable stress relaxation reveal how matrix mechanics regulates cellular mechanosensing and cell‐mediated matrix remodelling in the stiff regime. High stress relaxation promotes assembly of fibronectin fibril‐like structures, increased nuclear localization of YAP and formation of β1 integrin‐enriched ...
