Performance challenges of decentralised services [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Decentralised, peer-to-peer based services present a variety of security and privacy benefits for their users, and highly scalable to cater for a growing numbers of users, without extra servers being required of the service operator.

Robust Decentralised Proof-of-Position Algorithms for Smart City Applications

open access: yes2023 62nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2023
We present a decentralised class of algorithms called Tree-Proof-of-Position (T-PoP). T-PoP algorithms rely on the web of interconnected devices in a smart city to establish how likely it is that an agent is in the position they claim to be. T-PoP operates under adversarial assumptions, by which some agents are incentivised to be dishonest.
