A new species from an inselberg in the Brazilian Atlantic forest: Stachytarpheta forzzae (Verbenaceae), supported by morphological, palynological and anatomical evidence

We describe Stachytarpheta forzzae, a new species from an inselberg located in the municipality of Guaratinga, state of Bahia, within the Brazilian Atlantic forest. Morphologically, it resembles S. sprucei, the only other species of the genus known to inhabit inselbergs.

Biological Flora of Britain and Ireland: Geranium sylvaticum*

Geranium sylvaticum is a perennial forb of upland grasslands, woodlands and riverbanks in northern Britain, with scattered native occurrences also in Wales, central England and Northern Ireland. It has an extensive native range in Europe and Asia. The species is gynodioecious, with individual plants typically female or hermaphrodite.

Tooth attachment in vertebrates ranges from ligament‐based anchorage in mammals to direct fusion in many reptiles. In the veiled chameleon, we identified a transient cell population—termed ankyloblasts—at the tooth‐bone interface. These cells exhibit both odontoblast‐ and osteoblast‐like features.
