Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Decomposition Based on Decision Diagrams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In recent years, decision diagrams (DDs) have proven useful for solving a variety of optimization problems, often closing long-standing instances from classical benchmarks. This success is primarily driven by a DDs ability to capture structure. This paper exploits this characteristic and proposes a novel solution method which decomposes a problem into ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Guided Decision Tree: A Tool to Interactively Create Decision Trees Through Visualization of Subsequent LDA Diagrams

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Decision trees are a widely used machine learning technique due to their ease of interpretation and construction. This method allows domain experts to learn from raw data, but they cannot include their prior knowledge in the analysis due to its automatic

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

The role of time in influence diagrams

open access: yesJournal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2003
An influence diagram is a compact representation emphasizing the qualitative features of decision problem under uncertainty. Classical influence diagram has parameters stable in time, determined order of suggested decisions and generally is independent ...

AbsSynthe: abstract synthesis from succinct safety specifications [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science, 2014
In this paper, we describe a synthesis algorithm for safety specifications described as circuits. Our algorithm is based on fixpoint computations, abstraction and refinement, it uses binary decision diagrams as symbolic data structure.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
