Neuroethology of decision-making [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Neurobiology, 2012
A neuroethological approach to decision-making considers the effect of evolutionary pressures on neural circuits mediating choice. In this view, decision systems are expected to enhance fitness with respect to the local environment, and particularly efficient solutions to specific problems should be conserved, expanded, and repurposed to solve other ...

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.

Cytosolic‐enhanced dark Epac‐based FRET sensors allow for intracellular cAMP detection in live cells via FLIM

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We describe a novel set of Epac‐based FRET‐FLIM biosensors with improved fully cytosolic distribution, achieved without compromising the state‐of‐the‐art performance of our original designs, for detecting cAMP dynamics in real time in live cells with high precision and reliability.
