Implementing cooperative communication protocols: Decode and forward case study

open access: yes2017 IEEE International Black Sea Conference on Communications and Networking (BlackSeaCom), 2017
Cooperative communication technique is an emerging trend in communication systems and offers benefits of multiple-input-multiple-output (MEMO) systems. Decode-and-forward (DF) method is one of most the known methods that is utilized in cooperative communication systems. Its lower complexity and higher practicality benefits make DF very useful. However,

Impact of a senior research thesis on students' perceptions of scientific inquiry in distinct student populations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study addressed how a senior research thesis is perceived by undergraduate students. It assessed students' perception of research skills, epistemological beliefs, and career goals in Biochemistry (science) and BDC (science‐business) students. Completing a thesis improved confidence in research skills, resilience, scientific identity, closed gender‐

A Novel Multi-Layer Cooperative Decode and Forward Scheme

open access: yesVTC Spring 2009 - IEEE 69th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2009
Decode-and-forward (DF) is one of the most popular approach to transmit information over a cooperative relay channel. In DF, information coming from different sources is simply combined regardless of their respective link qualities, and thus DF is not optimized for any propagation conditions.

Cooperative Relaying with State Available Non-Causally at the Relay [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We consider a three-terminal state-dependent relay channel with the channel state noncausally available at only the relay. Such a model may be useful for designing cooperative wireless networks with some terminals equipped with cognition capabilities, i ...

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

On relay selection for decode-and-forward relaying [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2009
In this letter, we consider a multi-relay network operating in decode-and-forward mode. We propose a novel relay selection method with a low implementation complexity. Unlike the competing schemes, it requires neither error detection methods at relay nodes nor feedback information at the source.

A Novel User Pairing Scheme for Functional Decode-and-Forward Multi-way Relay Network

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, we consider a functional decode and forward (FDF) multi-way relay network (MWRN) where a common user facilitates each user in the network to obtain messages from all other users.

Synchrotron Radiation for Quantum Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Materials and interfaces underpin quantum technologies, with synchrotron and FEL methods key to understanding and optimizing them. Advances span superconducting and semiconducting qubits, 2D materials, and topological systems, where strain, defects, and interfaces govern performance.
