Distributed Decode–Forward for Relay Networks

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2017
A new coding scheme for general $N$ -node relay networks is presented for unicast, multicast, and broadcast. The proposed distributed decode–forward scheme combines and generalizes Marton coding for single-hop broadcast channels and the Cover–El Gamal partial decode–forward coding scheme for three-node relay channels. The key idea of the scheme is

Quasi-Concavity for Gaussian Multicast Relay Channels

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
Standard upper and lower bounds on the capacity of relay channels are cut-set (CS), decode-forward (DF), and quantize-forward (QF) rates. For real additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) multicast relay channels with one source node and one relay node ...

Functional-decode-forward for the general discrete memoryless two-way relay channel [PDF]

open access: yes2010 IEEE International Conference on Communication Systems, 2010
We consider the general discrete memoryless two-way relay channel, where two users exchange messages via a relay, and propose two functional-decode-forward coding strategies for this channel. Functional-decode-forward involves the relay decoding a function of the users' messages rather than the individual messages themselves.

Energy Minimization for the Half-Duplex Relay Channel with Decode-Forward Relaying [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Communications, 2013
We analyze coding for energy efficiency in relay channels at a fixed source rate. We first propose a half-duplex decode-forward coding scheme for the Gaussian relay channel. We then derive three optimal sets of power allocation, which respectively minimize the network, the relay and the source energy consumption.

The Arbitrarily Varying Relay Channel

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
We study the arbitrarily varying relay channel, which models communication with relaying in the presence of an active adversary. We establish the cutset bound and partial decode-forward bound on the random code capacity.

A Quantum Multiparty Packing Lemma and the Relay Channel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Optimally encoding classical information in a quantum system is one of the oldest and most fundamental challenges of quantum information theory. Holevo's bound places a hard upper limit on such encodings, while the Holevo-Schumacher-Westmoreland (HSW ...

A New Coding Paradigm for the Primitive Relay Channel

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2019
We consider the primitive relay channel, where the source sends a message to the relay and to the destination, and the relay helps the communication by transmitting an additional message to the destination via a separate channel.

On the Equal-Rate Capacity of the AWGN Multiway Relay Channel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The L-user additive white Gaussian noise multiway relay channel is investigated, where L users exchange information at the same rate through a single relay. A new achievable rate region, based on the functional-decode-forward coding strategy, is derived.
