Link-State Optimized Decode-Forward Transmission for Two-Way Relaying

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Communications, 2016
We establish a novel link-state regime result for a composite decode-forward (DF) two-way relaying scheme with a direct link. During transmission, our scheme combines block Markov coding and an independent coding scheme that resembles network coding at the relay.

The Generalized Degrees of Freedom of the Interference Relay Channel with Strong Interference [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The interference relay channel (IRC) under strong interference is considered. A high-signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) generalized degrees of freedom (GDoF) characterization of the capacity is obtained. To this end, a new GDoF upper bound is derived based on a

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Decode-Forward Transmission for the Two-Way Relay Channels

open access: yes, 2015
We propose composite decode-forward (DF) schemes for the two-way relay channel in both the full- and half-duplex modes by combining coherent relaying, independent relaying and partial relaying strategies. For the full-duplex mode, the relay partially decodes each user's information in each block and forwards this partial information coherently with the

Decode-Forward Relaying with State Available Noncausally at the Relay

open access: yesDEStech Transactions on Computer Science and Engineering, 2017
The problem of relay channel (RC) with noncausal channel state information (CSI) available at the relay is considered. With the CSI, the relay can help communication in two ways: 1) by relaying message information; 2) by conveying the CSI to help the destination decode. In previous work, Zaidi et al.

The Approximate Capacity of the MIMO Relay Channel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Capacity bounds are studied for the multiple-antenna complex Gaussian relay channel with t1 transmitting antennas at the sender, r2 receiving and t2 transmitting antennas at the relay, and r3 receiving antennas at the receiver.

Impact of a senior research thesis on students' perceptions of scientific inquiry in distinct student populations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study addressed how a senior research thesis is perceived by undergraduate students. It assessed students' perception of research skills, epistemological beliefs, and career goals in Biochemistry (science) and BDC (science‐business) students. Completing a thesis improved confidence in research skills, resilience, scientific identity, closed gender‐

Optimal Coding Functions for Pairwise Message Sharing on Finite-Field Multi-Way Relay Channels

open access: yes, 2014
This paper considers the finite-field multi-way relay channel with pairwise message sharing, where multiple users exchange messages through a single relay and where the users may share parts of their source messages (meaning that some message parts are ...

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Synchrotron Radiation for Quantum Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Materials and interfaces underpin quantum technologies, with synchrotron and FEL methods key to understanding and optimizing them. Advances span superconducting and semiconducting qubits, 2D materials, and topological systems, where strain, defects, and interfaces govern performance.
