A Knowledge‐Based Approach for Understanding and Managing Additive Manufacturing Data

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing processes generate a large amount of data. Effectively managing, understanding, and retrieving information from this data remains a major challenge. Therefore, we propose an ontology‐based approach to integrate heterogeneous data, enable semantic queries, and support decision‐making.

Assessing cross-national inequalities and predictive trends in gout burden: a global perspective (1990–2021)

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
BackgroundGout, caused by hyperuricemia and the deposition of monosodium urate crystals in joints, remains a major global health issue. Despite progress in treatment, its prevalence continues to rise, contributing to comorbidities like cardiovascular and

An Effective Method to Estimate Composition Amplitude of Spinodal Decomposition for Atom Probe Tomography Validated by Phase Field Simulations

open access: yes, 2012
Reasonable evaluation of composition amplitude in spinodal decomposition is a challenge to microanalysis of atom probe tomography, especially at early stages when phase separation is not prominent. This impedes quantitative analysis of spinodal structure

Tensor decompositions for learning latent variable models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This work considers a computationally and statistically efficient parameter estimation method for a wide class of latent variable models---including Gaussian mixture models, hidden Markov models, and latent Dirichlet allocation---which exploits a certain

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

Energy system efficiency in Cuba de composition analysis of energy use and co2 emissions

open access: yesRevista Científica de Ingeniería Energética, 2023
This article presents results from a decomposition analysis of energy consumption and CO2 emissions in Cuba during the period 1971–2019. Energy decomposition is done with a dynamic Sun-Shapley decomposition, which produces activity ...

Impact of Sustainable Binders Based on Lignin and Collagen on the Volume Stability and Mechanical Properties of MgO‐C Refractories with MgO‐C Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.
