Integrating AI models into ecological research workflows: The case of terrestrial bioacoustics

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, EarlyView.
Abstract Data collected by autonomous sensors, including camera traps and acoustic recorders, have enormous potential to generate new scientific insights in ecology and related fields. Modern machine learning and AI classification methods are critical to analysing these often immense data streams.

Muscle tendon elongation with bovine pericardium (Tutopatch®) in patients with Graves’ orbitopathy; a prospective, observational, multicentre study

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Patients with severe ocular motility restriction and/or large angle strabismus due to Graves' orbitopathy (GO) cannot be adequately addressed with conventional strabismus surgery using large muscle recessions. Muscle tendon elongation surgery, using a spacer of bovine pericardium (Tutopatch®) has emerged as a valuable alternative.

Exploring tear fluid biomarkers and the ocular surface in thyroid eye disease

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To examine ocular surface changes and inflammatory tear fluid biomarkers in patients with thyroid eye disease (TED). Methods We included 106 Graves' disease (GD) patients (36 without TED, 32 with active and 38 with inactive TED) and 106 age‐ and sex‐matched healthy subjects for ophthalmological evaluation, including ocular surface ...

Antimicrobial prescribing guidelines for horses in Australia

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
The growing problem of antimicrobial resistance also affects equine veterinarians with increasing frequency. Antimicrobial stewardship and responsible prescribing are essential for a future in which effective antimicrobials are available, as it is unlikely that new antimicrobials will become available for use in horses.
