Phase Engineering of Nanomaterials (PEN): Evolution, Current Challenges, and Future Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the synthesis, phase transition, advanced characterization spanning ex situ to in situ and operando techniques, and diverse applications of phase engineering of nanomaterials (PEN). It further outlines key challenges and future opportunities, such as phase stability, architecture control, and artificial intelligence (AI)‐driven ...

A stratified analysis of multilevel direct decompression of degenerative lumbar central stenosis: Is fusion needed in the elderly?

open access: yesJournal of Craniovertebral Junction and Spine
Background: Surgical decompression of degenerative lumbar central stenosis, in older patients, has been shown to provide improved outcomes compared to conservative treatment. However, in elderly patients lacking instability, there still lacks a consensus

Characterizing candidate decompression rates for hypobaric hypoxic stunning of pigs. Part 2: Pathological consequences

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2022
Pigs are commonly stunned pre-slaughter by exposure to carbon dioxide (CO2), but this approach is associated with significant welfare concerns. Hypobaric hypoxia, achieved with gradual decompression (also known as Low Atmospheric Pressure Stunning or ...

Pressure‐Driven Phase Transition Unlocking Unique Eu2+ Luminescence in Li2SrSiO4 for Optical Sensing and White‐LEDs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates, for the first time, the use of a large‐format high‐pressure press to modify synthesized Li2SrSiO4:Eu2+,Cs+ phosphors after its preparation. The pressure treatment results in the formation of new materials with distinctive optical properties, opening pathways for the development of advanced LED devices and high‐performance ...

Targeting Dnmt3a/m5C/RelA Axis Attenuates Microglia Inflammatory Response and Improves Postoperative Recovery in Chronic Compressive Cervical Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pro‐inflammatory microglial subset persists after decompression in chronic compressive cervical spinal cord injury and shows enhanced Dnmt3a‐driven m5C signaling. By stabilizing RelA mRNA, this axis sustains NF‐κB activation and postoperative neuroinflammation.

High Bubble Grade After Diving: The Role of the Blood Pressure Regimen

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2019
Introduction: Previous studies have suggested that the circulatory system was involved in the production of circulatory bubbles after diving. This study was designed to research the cardio-vascular function characteristics related to the production of ...

Factors Affecting Recollapse of the Augmented Vertebrae After Percutaneous Vertebral Augmentation: A Prospective Study

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
To investigate the relevant factors of augmented vertebrae recollapse after percutaneous vertebral augmentation (PVA) for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs). Intervertebral cleft (IVC) and those with PVP intervention are at higher risk of recollapse.

Contemporary management of pain in cirrhosis: Toward precision therapy for pain

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Chronic pain is highly prevalent in patients with cirrhosis and is associated with poor health‐related quality of life and poor functional status. However, there is limited guidance on appropriate pain management in this population, and pharmacologic treatment can be harmful, leading to adverse outcomes, such as gastrointestinal bleeding ...

Anesthetic management of excision of recurrent C2 chordoma with extension into posterior pharyngeal wall

open access: yesJournal of Marine Medical Society, 2017
Tumors from remnants of the embryonic notochord are called as Chordomas. These are slow growing, yet aggressive tumors. Despite treatment, these, low grade, malignant tumors are very prone to recurrence and 6 years is approximately the median survival ...
