Perigraftitis, an independent biologic complication associated with implants placed in grafted bone

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Perigraftitis is a recently introduced concept describing biologic complications specifically associated with implants placed in grafted bone. It is characterized by inflammation resulting from bacterial colonization of grafted bone and/or residual graft particulates.

Combination of autogenous dentin graft and allograft for horizontal ridge augmentation: A case report

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Autogenous particulate dentin has emerged as one of the promising biocompatible alternatives to traditional bone graft materials in alveolar ridge augmentation. Although its clinical success is documented, comprehensive studies combining histological and radiographic evaluations remain limited. This case report addresses this gap by

Is intra-abdominal hypertension a missing factor that drives multiple organ dysfunction syndrome? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In a recent issue of Critical Care, Cheng and colleagues conducted a rabbit model study that demonstrated that intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) may damage both gut anatomy and function. With only 6 hours of IAH at 25 mmHg, these authors observed an 80%

Chemical Straightening as a Source of Analytical Variability in Hair Testing: A Dual‐Analyte Case Report

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hair analysis is increasingly used in forensic toxicology; however, result interpretation may be influenced by cosmetic hair treatments. Although the effects of bleaching, dyeing, and thermal straightening have already been evaluated, data on permanent chemical hair straightening are scarce, particularly under in vivo conditions.

Influence of Different Washing Hair Procedures in the Quantitative Determination of THC and THCCOOH

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
Different hair decontamination protocols significantly affect THC quantification, with marked analyte loss—particularly after aqueous‐organic washing—whereas THCCOOH remains stable. These findings highlight the risk of misinterpretation and the need for standardized washing procedures in hair analysis.

First Observational Signature of Rotational Deceleration in a Massive, Intermediate-age Star Cluster in the Magellanic Clouds

open access: yes, 2016
While the extended main-sequence turn-offs (eMSTOs) found in almost all 1--2 Gyr-old star clusters in the Magellanic Clouds are often explained by postulating extended star-formation histories, the tight subgiant branches (SGBs) seen in some clusters ...

Nonthermal Food Processing Technologies: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract illustrates the shift from traditional thermal food preservation methods to advanced nonthermal technologies. Traditional methods, represented by heating, often compromise the nutritional and sensory quality of foods. In contrast, nonthermal approaches such as high‐pressure processing (HPP), pulsed electric field (PEF ...
