On the closed-form solution of the monopolist long-run profit maximization problem with linear demand and Cobb-Douglas technology

open access: yesCroatian Operational Research Review
This paper provides an economic and mathematical analysis of the long-run profit maximization problem of a monopolist with linear demand and a two-input Cobb-Douglas technology to derive the conditions that guarantee the solution to this problem.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Regular Variable Returns to Scale Production Frontier and Efficiency Measurement

open access: yesOperational Research
Breakthrough in Measuring Efficiency with Respect to Nonconvex Technology The variable returns to scale (VRS) frontier, commonly used in data envelopment analysis, has a convex technology set and follows a specific “regular VRS” structure in economics ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Collusion in a Bertrand duopoly model with decreasing returns and product differentiation

open access: yesEstudios de Economía, 2016
We study cartel stability in a differentiated price-setting duopoly with returns to scale. We show that a cartel may be equally stable in the presence of lower differentiation, provided that the decreasing returns parameter is high.

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

APPLICATION OF DATA ENVELOPMENT ANALYSIS (DEA) ON THE TECHNICAL EFFICIENCY OF ORGANIC SWAMP CABBAGE FARMING AT MUTIARA FARM, PAGELARAN VILLAGE, PAGELARAN SUB-DISTRICT, MALANG REGENCY, EAST JAVA

open access: yesAGRISE, 2020
The use of inputs in producing output is an important thing to be considered in the production process. Efficiency is a measure that shows how well resources are used in the production process.

Firm Efficiency and Returns-to-Scale in the Honey Bee Pollination Services Industry

open access: yesJournal of Economic Entomology, 2018
While the demand for pollination services have been increasing, continued declines in honey bee, Apis mellifera L. (Hymenoptera: Apidae), colonies have put the cropping sector and the broader health of agro-ecosystems at risk. Economic factors may play a

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

The skills required for transition to university and study in biological sciences: A student perspective

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...
