Drive for DED

Machinery, 2019
Direct Energy Deposition (DED) processes, available for many years, are not yet widely available or used. Andrew Allcock spoke to Autodesk’s Kelvin Hamilton, senior technical consultant, collaborative research & development projects, about the topic and what needs to change to see DED become more widely applied

On optimal scheduling in DEDS

[1993] Proceedings IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2002
The local optimality (LO) property for discrete event dynamic systems (DEDS) modeled using Petri nets (PNs) is presented. If a system is divided into independent subsystems and if the optimal behavior of these subsystems guarantees the optimal behavior of the whole system, then this system possesses the LO property.

DEDS Simulation Model Development

2007
This chapter introduces a number of traditional approaches for the development of simulation models. The simulation model associated with a modelling and simulation project is a computer program that captures the structural and behavioural details of the SUI as specified by the conceptual model.

DEDS Stochastic Behaviour and Modelling

2013
This chapter is devoted to the modelling and simulation process within the domain of discrete-event dynamic systems (DEDS). This chapter provides a foundation for these discussions by exploring a variety of key topics. To a large extent the discussion is dominated by considerations relating to the inherently stochastic nature of the DEDS domain. Within

Knowledge-Based Control of DEDS

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1996
Abstract An alternative approach to the discrete-event dynamic systems (DEDS) control is presented. Petri nets are used to express analytically the DEDS model and to represent knowledge about the control task specifications. Both the DEDS model and the knowledge base are simultaneously used in the procedure of the control system synthesis.

DEDS control synthesis problem solving

2004 2nd International IEEE Conference on 'Intelligent Systems'. Proceedings (IEEE Cat. No.04EX791), 2004
An approach to solving the problem of control synthesis of discrete event dynamic systems (DEDS) is presented in this paper. DEDS are expected here to be modelled by means of the ordinary Petri nets (PN) defined e.g. by Murata (1989) and Peterson (1981). Directed graphs (DG) described e.g.
