Blasting excavation induced damage of surrounding rock masses in deep-buried tunnels

open access: yesKSCE Journal of Civil Engineering, 2016
Blasting excavation disturbance is an important influencing factor related to the initiation and the evolution of the surrounding rock damage zone in deep-buried tunnels. Based on the excavation of auxiliary tunnels in the Jinping II Hydropower Station, the effect of blasting excavation disturbance on the surrounding rock damage zone in deep-buried ...

Mechanical Properties of the Functionally Graded Lining for a Deep Buried Subway Tunnel

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
With the rapid development of the subway rail transit, tunnels are buried at an increasing depth, raising the requirements of bearing capacity and waterproofness for linings. Functionally graded materials are introduced into the design of linings to save costs, and concrete with different elastic moduli is equipped at different positions to reduce the ...

Mesoporous Carbon Thin Films with Large Mesopores as Model Material for Electrochemical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mesoporous carbon thin films possessing 70 nm mesopores are prepared on titanium substrates by soft templating of resol resins with a self‐synthesized poly(ethylene oxide)‐block‐poly(hexyl acrylate) block copolymer. A strategy to avoid corrosion of the metal substrate is presented, and the films are extensively characterized in terms of morphology ...

In Materia Shaping of Randomness with a Standard Complementary Metal‐Oxide‐Semiconductor Transistor for Task‐Adaptive Entropy Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study establishes a materials‐driven framework for entropy generation within standard CMOS technology. By electrically rebalancing gate‐oxide traps and Si‐channel defects in foundry‐fabricated FDSOI transistors, the work realizes in‐materia control of temporal correlation – achieving task adaptive entropy optimization for reinforcement learning ...

Electric Field‐Dependent Conductivity as Probe for Charge Carrier Delocalization and Morphology in Organic Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Applying a high electric field to a doped organic semiconductor heats up the charge carrier distribution beyond the lattice temperature, enhancing conductivity. It is shown that the associated effective temperature can be used to extract the effective localization length, which is a characteristic length scale of charge transport and provides ...

Spin‐Split Edge States in Metal‐Supported Graphene Nanoislands Obtained by CVD

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Combining STM measurements and ab‐initio calculations, we show that zig‐zag edges in graphene nanoislands grown on Ni(111) by CVD retrieve their spin‐polarized edge states after intercalation of a few monolayers of Au. ABSTRACT Spin‐split states localized on zigzag edges have been predicted for different free‐standing graphene nanostructures.
