Living and Non-living Resources in Brazilian Deep Waters
2020In Brazil, deep-sea marine environments extend over 3.5 million km2, covering nearly 80% of Brazil’s Economic Exclusive Zone (EEZ) in the southern tropical and subtropical Atlantic Ocean. Over this area, the exploitation of both living and non-living resources have gradually increased and supported by natural geological resources, scientific knowledge,

Abstract In water depths greater than 150 meters hundreds of oil and gas discoveries have been made and deemed non-commercial for one reason or another. Many of these fields are in concessions or leases without any hope of near term development because the conventional approach for developing an offshore field ...

Deep waters: Lessons from community meetings about offshore wind resource development in the U.S.
Marine Policy, 2015Meeting the United States׳ offshore renewable-energy goals for 2030 necessitates deploying approximately 9000 wind turbines along U.S. coastlines. Because siting bottom-mounted turbines in most nearshore coastal zones is either impractical or politically difficult, turbine developers are testing floating-platform turbine technologies for deeper waters.

Deep‐water Fan Systems and Petroleum Resources on the Northern Slope of the South China Sea
Acta Geologica Sinica - English Edition, 2004Abstract The shallow shelf delta/strand arenaceous‐pelitic deposit region in the north of the Pearl River mouth basin, sitting on the northern continental shelf of the South China Sea, has already become an important oil production base in China. Recent researched has revealed that a great deal of deep‐water fans of great petroleum potentiality exist ...

ABSTRACT Shrimp fisheries in the Mexican Gulf of Mexico arc limited to the 100-m-depth contour. We investigated potential penaeoidean shrimp resources on the continental slope of the Yucatan Peninsula (southern Gulf of Mexico) during 2 research cruises conducted during spring 1999 (cruise 1; number of hauls, 21; depth range, 300–599 m) and 2007 (cruise
